INTRODUCTION TO SMART IRRIGATION
 Smart Agriculture developing model is a real time monitoring system It monitor the
soil properties like temperature, humidity soil moisture PH etc. It is possible to control
many operations of the field remotely from anywhere, anytime by IOT.
 It offers a futuristic way of life in which an individual gets to control his electronic
devices using a smart phone, it also offers an efficient use of energy. It applied in all
areas of industry, including smart agriculture, smart parking.
IOT(INTERNET OF THINGS)
 The internet of things (IOT) is the physical objects of “things” embedded with
electronics , software , sensors and network connectivity , which enables these objects
to collect and exchange data.
 IOT allows objects to be sensed and controlled remotely across existing network
infrastructure ,creating opportunities for more for more direct integration between the
physical world and computer-based system, and resulting in improved efficiency,
accuracy and economic benefit.
SYSTEM COMPONENT: HARDWARE AND
SOFTWARE
1.NODEMCU
 NodeMCU is an open source LUA based firmware developed for ESP8266 wifi chip By
exploring functionality with ESP8266 chip, NodeMCU firmware comes with ESP8266
Development board/kit i.e. NodeMCU Development board. NodeMCU Dev Kit/board
consist of ESP8266 wifi enabled chip.
 The ESP8266 is a lowcost Wi-Fi chip developed by Espress if Systems with TCP/IP
protocol. For more information about ESP8266, you can refer ESP8266 WiFi Module.

2. DHT11 TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY
SENSOR
This DHT11 Temperature and Humidity Sensor
features a calibrated digital signal output with the
temperature and humidity sensor capability. It is
integrated with a high-performance 8-bit
microcontroller. Its technology ensures the high
reliability and excellent long-term stability.
Specification
1. Supply Voltage: +5 V
2. Temperature range :0-50 °C error of ± 2 °C
3. Humidity :20-90% RH ± 5% RH error
4. Interface: Digital
3. SOIL MOISTURE SENSOR
Soil moisture sensors measure the volumetric
water content in soil. Since the direct gravimetric
measurement of free soil moisture requires
removing, drying, and weighing of a sample, soil
moisture sensors measure the volumetric water
content indirectly by using some other property
of the soil, such as electrical resistance, dielectric
constant, or interaction with neutrons, as proxy
for the moisture content.
4. MOTOR PUMP
• Motor Pump is a rotary electrical machines that converts
direct current electrical energy into mechanical energy. The
most common types rely on the forces produced by
magnetic fields.
•A DC Pump's speed can be controlled over a wide range,
using either a variable supply voltage or by changing the
strength of current in its field windings.
5. RELAY MODULE
A standard and generally used relay is made up of
electromagnets which in general used as a switch.
Dictionary says that relay means the act of passing
something from one thing to another, the same meaning
can be applied to this device because the signal received
from one side of the device controls the switching
operation on the other side.
6. LCD DISPLAY
A liquid-crystal display (LCD) is a flat panel display,
electronic visual display, or video display that uses the
light modulating properties of liquid crystals. Liquid
crystals do not emit light directly. LCDs are available to
display arbitrary images, such as preset words, digits, and
7-segment displays as in a digital clock.
7. I2C MODULE
• I2C Module has an inbuilt PCF8574 I2C chip
that converts I2C serial data to parallel data for
the LCD display.
• With this I2C interface LCD module, you only
need 2 lines (I2C) to display the information. It
can display 16 characters per line
8. RECTIFIER
• A rectifier is an electrical device that converts alternating
current (AC), which periodically reverses direction,
to direct current (DC), which flows in only one direction.
• Rectifiers have many uses, but are often found serving as
components of DC power supplies and high-voltage direct
current power transmission systems.
9. BATTERY
Battery, in electricity and electrochemistry, any of a
class of devices that convert chemical energy directly
into electrical energy.
SOFTWARE
 Blynk is a Platform with IOS and Android apps to control Arduino, Raspberry Pi and
the likes over the Internet. It's a digital dashboard where you can build a graphic
interface for your project by simply dragging and dropping widgets.
 • Blynk is a new platform that allows you to quickly build interfaces for controlling and
monitoring your hardware projects from your iOS and Android device. After
downloading the Blynk app, you can create a project dashboard and arrange buttons,
sliders, graphs, and other widgets onto the screen

CHALLENGES
 The smart farming based equipment require farmer to understand and learn the use of
technology.
 The smart agriculture need availability on internet continuously.
 Fault sensor or data processing engines can cause faulty l decisions which may lead to
over use of water, fertilizers and other wastage of resources.
 It also has some issues which have to be tracked properly in order to attain the full
benefit of it.
APPLICATIONS
 Useful in Irrigation Field
 Useful in Parks and Grounds
 It is also helpful in paddy areas and rice fields
 It is beneficial in Pisciculture
FUTURE SCOPE
 Using this system as framework, the system can be expanded to include various other
options which could include mobile application control of motor and wifi controlled
monitoring. These will expand the working capability and efficiency of this prototype.
It has a vast scope when it is mixed with IOT .Automation will get a new dimension
through this.

INTRODUCTION TO SMART IRRIGATION  Smart Agriculture developing model is a real time monitoring system It monitor the soil properties like temperature, humidity soil moisture PH etc. It is possible to control many operations of the field remotely from anywhere, anytime by IOT.  It offers a futuristic way of life in which an individual gets to control his electronic devices using a smart phone, it also offers an efficient use of energy. It applied in all areas of industry, including smart agriculture, smart parking.

IOT(INTERNET OF THINGS)  The internet of things (IOT) is the physical objects of “things” embedded with electronics , software , sensors and network connectivity , which enables these objects to collect and exchange data.  IOT allows objects to be sensed and controlled remotely across existing network infrastructure ,creating opportunities for more for more direct integration between the physical world and computer-based system, and resulting in improved efficiency, accuracy and economic benefit.

SYSTEM COMPONENT: HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE 1.NODEMCU  NodeMCU is an open source LUA based firmware developed for ESP8266 wifi chip By exploring functionality with ESP8266 chip, NodeMCU firmware comes with ESP8266 Development board/kit i.e. NodeMCU Development board. NodeMCU Dev Kit/board consist of ESP8266 wifi enabled chip.  The ESP8266 is a lowcost Wi-Fi chip developed by Espress if Systems with TCP/IP protocol.   • 10. 3. SOIL MOISTURE SENSOR Soil moisture sensors measure the volumetric water content in soil. Since the direct gravimetric measurement of free soil moisture requires removing, drying, and weighing of a sample, soil moisture sensors measure the volumetric water content indirectly by using some other property of the soil, such as electrical resistance, dielectric constant, or interaction with neutrons, as proxy for the moisture content.
  • 11. 4. MOTOR PUMP • Motor Pump is a rotary electrical machines that converts direct current electrical energy into mechanical energy. The most common types rely on the forces produced by magnetic fields. •A DC Pump's speed can be controlled over a wide range, using either a variable supply voltage or by changing the strength of current in its field windings.
  • 12. 5. RELAY MODULE A standard and generally used relay is made up of electromagnets which in general used as a switch. Dictionary says that relay means the act of passing something from one thing to another, the same meaning can be applied to this device because the signal received from one side of the device controls the switching operation on the other side.
  • 13. 6. LCD DISPLAY A liquid-crystal display (LCD) is a flat panel display, electronic visual display, or video display that uses the light modulating properties of liquid crystals. Liquid crystals do not emit light directly. LCDs are available to display arbitrary images, such as preset words, digits, and 7-segment displays as in a digital clock.
  • 14. 7. I2C MODULE • I2C Module has an inbuilt PCF8574 I2C chip that converts I2C serial data to parallel data for the LCD display. • With this I2C interface LCD module, you only need 2 lines (I2C) to display the information. It can display 16 characters per line

RECTIFIER • A rectifier is an electrical device that converts alternating current (AC), which periodically reverses direction, to direct current (DC), which flows in only one direction. • Rectifiers have many uses, but are often found serving as components of DC power supplies and high-voltage direct current power transmission systems.
  • 16. 9. BATTERY Battery, in electricity and electrochemistry, any of a class of devices that convert chemical energy directly into electrical energy.
  • 17. SOFTWARE  Blynk is a Platform with IOS and Android apps to control Arduino, Raspberry Pi and the likes over the Internet. CHALLENGES  The smart farming based equipment require farmer to understand and learn the use of technology.  The smart agriculture need availability on internet continuously.  Fault sensor or data processing engines can cause faulty l decisions which may lead to over use of water, fertilizers and other wastage of resources.  It also has some issues which have to be tracked properly in order to attain the full benefit of it.

FUTURE SCOPE  Using this system as framework, the system can be expanded to include various other options which could include mobile application control of motor and wifi controlled monitoring. These will expand the working capability and efficiency of this prototype. It has a vast scope when it is mixed with IOT .Automation will get a new dimension through this.
