This document summarizes different styles of fashion from various places and time periods featured in an exhibit at the MET Museum of Art in New York. It describes traditional Greek dresses and armor from the 5th century BC, a ceremonial woven body mask from Papua New Guinea, golden burial objects and a goddess figure from Pre-Columbian cultures, portraits depicting 15th century Florentine and French fashions including dresses, tunics, and headpieces, and fashion from the French court and pre-and post-French revolution era. The exhibit showed how clothing and accessories reflected cultural traditions and signified status, wealth, and important events over hundreds of years.

3. 2. Greek armor: horse a sign of wealth. Full
armor, only few exist. Matching set. Leather
strap at shoulder. Wore over a linen tunic.Seated
soldier.
4. 3. Papua New Guinea: woven body mask
with leaves. Ceremonial to honor the death
of a man. Wore only once. Left after the 23
h ceremonies in the forest to disintegrate.
5. 4. Precolombian: golden burial objects.
Gold earpiece: colored messengers holding a
mother of pearl message, to be worn by leading
men.
6. Silver and gold nosepieces: silver representing
the moon and gold the sun, to cover mouth.
And holding serpent on the sides signified
continuity of life.
8. 5. Burgundian court tapestry: Dresses Fitted at
the chest full at the bottom. Worn with jewelry
for women.
9. Tapestries were a meaning wealth, was used to
keep warmth in rooms. Red-green-white and
roses, the sign of Charles VII. Men and women
wore headpieces with hanging scarf over one
side.
10. 6. Florintian: Portrait of a young man by
Bronzino; darker colors used in dress. Heavy
looking slashed silk tunic. Gathered from
clothing of defeated men in sword fight. He's
wearing linen undershirt.
11. 7. Florintian: portrait by friar Fillippo Lippi: slit
sleeve with embroidered shirt. Clogged hair at
four head. French headdress with scarf, longer
on one side, lots of gathers on red wedding
dress.
12. 8. French: -woman fine cotton dress. Satin
lining. Heshtrok or long hair.
