  1. -GEETASHREE MAJUMDAR -ASSISTANT PROFESSOR DEPARTMENT OF RADIOLOGY AND IMAGING TECHNOLOGY INTENSIFYING SCREEN
  2. What is intensifying screen? It is a part of the cassette which converts x-ray energy into visible light spectrum. It reduces the patient dose.
  3. CONSTRUCTION OF INTENSIFYING SCREEN It consists of base, reflecting surface, phosphor layer, protective coating. •Base:This acts as a support for all other layers of intensifying screen. It is made of polyster plastic and hogh grade cardboard. •Reflecting surface:It is also called as absorption surface. It reflects the light back.It is made of Titenium dioxide.
  4. •Phosphorlayer: This layer absorbs x-ray photons and converts them to light energy. It is composed of Calcium Tungestate,Lanthenium oxibromide and Gadolinium oxisulphide. •Protective layer:It provides physical protection and prevents static electricity. It is composed of Gadolinium, Lanthanium and Yatrium.
