3. WhatisIOT?
IOT isshort for Internet of Things
The Internet of Things(IOT) is inter-networking of
physicaldevices.Thissystemhasability to
transfer data over a network without requiring
human-to-human or human-to-computer
interaction.
4. • IOT hasmanyapplications in agriculture, smart Cities,
smart home, healthcare, business sectors, Traffic
monitoring, transport and logisticsetc.,
• This is a growing mega trend that will influence
everything from businessesto our daily personallives.
• Here we are mainly focussing on agriculture, as it plays a
vital role in development ofour country’s economy.
WHY IOT?
5. IOT IN AGRICULTURE
• Today,India ranks second in the world, in farmoutput.
• 64%of cultivated land dependent onmonsoons.
• Irrigation accounts for 55-75%of water usageinIndia.
• Nearly 60%of the water used for irrigation is wasted.
• we conserve water by using soil moisture sensors.
7. •Usually the farmer pumps the water more or less to cultivate
the land.
•Thismayresult in wastageof water or insufficiency to the crops.
•By using soil moisture sensor, farmer gets an alerting message
when the moisture level increasesor decreases.
CROPWATERMANAGEMENT
8. Precision agriculture(PA) is a farm management with IT, that ensures
the crops and soils to receive optimum health and productivity.
PA is also known as satellite agriculture and SSCM(Site Specific Crop
Management).
Sensors in fields measure moisture content and air satellite and robotic drones
provide farmer with real time images.
PRECISION AGRICULTURE
9. PREDATORSMANAGEMENTANDCONTROLWORKS
Often farmers hard works are destroyed by predators(pests) that results in huge
losstofarmers.
To prevent such situation AGRICULTURE INTERNET OF THINGS has a system that
detectsthe motion of predators usingPIRsensors.
Thisinformation canbeusedbythe farmerstoreduce damagedonebypredators.
11. •Both SOIL MOISTURE SENSOR and PIR SENSOR are connected to the
Arduino to perform an action.
•Arduino will send the data to the data base using Ethernet shield and if
emergency, it also sends message to the user by using a device called
GSM module.
ARDUINO
12. •Asensorthat will sensethe moisture level in the land(sand)called
SOILMOISTURESENSOR.
SOIL MOISTURE SENSOR
13. •A PIR based motion detector is used to sense
movementof people,animals or other objects.
14. The LM35 is one kind of commonly used temperature sensor that can be used to
measure temperature with an electrical o/p comparative to the temperature (in °C).
It can measure temperature more correctly compare with a thermistor.
This sensor generates a high output voltage than thermocouples and may not need that
the output voltage is amplified.
The LM35 has an output voltage that is proportional to the Celsius temperature. The
scale factor is .01V/°C.
