For years, managers’ job has been, well, you know, managing people and information. OK, let’s be blunt: it’s been to
control people and information.
That was logical: after all, the only management models we had in the early days of large organizations were the army and
the Roman Catholic church, and they were both big on control of both people and information.
Today, like it or not, the potential for top-down control is gone.
