       The Superintendent’s Bulletin is posted weekly on Fridays on our website. It provides timely, relevant
   information about meetings, professional development opportunities, curriculum and program development,
    grant awards, and school committee news. The bulletin is also the official vehicle for job postings. Please
          read the bulletin regularly and use it to inform colleagues of meetings and other school news.

Graduate Course Reimbursement
Course reimbursement funding of $22,500 is available to distribute in FY11 among qualified teachers for
graduate course work which is done as part of a master's degree program to fulfill that teacher's obligations for
the Massachusetts educators professional license and for course work required to achieve the next stage of
licensure culminating in a professional license. To apply for this course reimbursement, please send--by June 1,
2010--the following to Valerie Spruill:
•your name •evidence of your enrollment in an applicable master/doctoral degree program •name and
description of the course •evidence of cost of the course •proof of payment (VISA/MC) •transcript. You will be
notified of the amount awarded to you by July 1, 2010.

Professional Development                                    Primary Source Summer Institutes 2010
                                                              As members of Primary Source, we have the opportunity
                                                              to participate in a variety of summer institutes that are
                                                              described below. We are guaranteed ten reserved seats
                                                              in the institutes. This means ten total seats, NOT ten
                                                              seats for each institute. If you are interested in attending

  an institute, please contact Janice Gross indicating which institute you are interested in attending. Spaces will
  be filled on a first come, first served basis. The registration deadline is April 16, but earlier is always better. Full
  course descriptions and pertinent information were published in Bulletins 23, 24, and 25 (March 5, 12, 19).

  Spring Social Studies Seminar Series                                         1 Inservice Credit or 15 PDPs
  Seminars designed to enrich content understanding and model use of thematic approaches to social studies.
  Teachers will participate in post-seminar discussions to utilize content and pedagogy in preparation for the
  system-wide curriculum review. Remaining seminars in this year’s series:

       • Pathway 1 = attend three (3) seminars and discussion, complete homework assignments and create a
         project or lesson plan utilizing the materials or information presented during the seminar.
       • Pathway 2 = attend all four (4) seminars and discussion, and complete homework readings.

Additional Teaching With Technology Series Offerings
 The SMART Board interactive whiteboard is a touch-sensitive display that connects to your computer and digital
 projector. Using a finger, you can control computer applications, write notes, search the Internet, and annotate
 and save your work. The SMART Notebook software is an application that lets you add interactivity to lessons
 through an array of powerful education tools and resources. Attend this three-hour workshop to learn the basics
 of how to use the SMART Board and the Notebook software in your classroom to engage students in hands-on
 interactive learning. This is an Intro Workshop.

WINGS'10 Academic and Enrichment Summer Program Positions:
Regular Education Teaching Assistants -- 4 Weeks 7/6/10-7/30/10 AM Academic Courses
Teaching Assistants for the academic classes ($18/hr or current rate) to teach in the AM (8:30-11:30) session.
Candidates must be experienced teaching either math or literacy. Preference will be given to candidates who are
familiar with WPS grade level learning goals and who have experience working with students with special needs.

Student Assistants -- 4 Weeks 7/6/10-7/30/10
A limited number of Student Assistants ($10/hr ) to work in enrichment classes in the AM (8:30-11:30) and/or the
PM (12:00-3:00) sessions. Preference will be given to high school and college students who have worked in
WINGS in the past or who are children of Wellesley staff. Read the description of the courses at
www.wellesley.k12.ma.us (click on programs) and indicate in your letter of application which courses you
think your skills/talents/experience match.

Nursing coverage for all summer programs 7/1/10-8/6/10
Registered nurse(s) ($39.49/hr.) Preference will be given to current WPS nurses and others who have worked in
WINGS in the past.

Secretary -- 7/6/10-7/30/10
Responsibilities will include tracking and recording student attendance for each of the four time periods a day,
managing all incoming phone calls, helping to maintain attendance and weekly time sheets, helping to support the
needs of up to 70 adults.

Preschool Special Education Positions 7/1/10-8/6/10
Lead Preschool Teachers for P.A.W.S. Summer '10
Lead teachers for both the four and six week programs. Master's degree and DESE licenses in both early
childhood education and special education required, expertise in using Applied Behavior Analysis as a teaching
methodology is required for the six week long program. Preference will be given to current WPS employees.

Preschool Teaching Assistants and Paraprofessionals
Teaching assistants ($18/hr or current rate) must have experience in working with preschool aged children with
special needs. Paraprofessionals ($25/hr or current rate) must have expertise in Applied Behavior Analysis.
Current WPS employees should state their current rate of pay in their letter of application.

Therapists for WINGS'10 and P.A.W.S. (Preschool at Wellesley Schools) 7/1/10-8/6/10
Speech/Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapists ($45/hr). Certification and
experience required. Preference will be given to current and former WPS employees.

Elementary Special Education Positions
  Special Education Teacher Positions 7/1/10-8/6/10
  Special Education Teachers ($39.49/hr) to teach students with language-based learning disabilities in grades 2-
  5. The position is part-time (8:30-11:30) each morning for six weeks. Training and experience teaching reading,
  written language and math skills to students with disabilities is necessary and Moderate Special Needs
  certification is preferred.

  Lead Teachers for Full Day Six Week Program 7/1/10-8/6/10
  Lead Teachers ($39.49/hr) to lead small group lessons for students with intensive special needs. Other duties
  include consulting with academic and enrichment teachers, providing guidance to teaching assistants, overseeing
  students' schedules, etc. Training and experience teaching students with intensive disabilities is necessary and
  Severe Needs certification is preferred.

 Teaching assistants ($18 an hour or current rate of pay) to support students with disabilities in special education
 classes and in some academic, enrichment, and recreational activities for both the AM (8:30-11:30) and the PM
 (12:00-3:00) sessions. Preference will be given to candidates who are currently working in WPS, with training in
 elementary education, special education, or related field and/or experience with students with disabilities.

   Middle School Summer School
   July 1 - August 6, 2010
  The Wellesley Middle School would like to hire a speech and language pathologist for its summer school. The
  speech and language pathologist would work with individuals and groups of middle school students on their
  language and social skill development. The summer school runs from July 1 to August 6. This is a 20 hour a week

Calendar Wednesday 03/31 Deadline for submitting Flexible Spending Account receipts from 2009 Friday 04/02 Good Friday -- No School Monday 04/05 Annual Town Meeting Begins Graduate Course Reimbursement Course reimbursement funding of $22,500 is available to distribute in FY11 among qualified teachers for graduate course work which is done as part of a master's degree program to fulfill that teacher's obligations for the Massachusetts educators professional license and for course work required to achieve the next stage of licensure culminating in a professional license. To apply for this course reimbursement, please send--by June 1, 2010--the following to Valerie Spruill: •your name •evidence of your enrollment in an applicable master/doctoral degree program •name and description of the course •evidence of cost of the course •proof of payment (VISA/MC) •transcript. You will be notified of the amount awarded to you by July 1, 2010.   • 2. Professional Development Primary Source Summer Institutes 2010 As members of Primary Source, we have the opportunity to participate in a variety of summer institutes that are described below. We are guaranteed ten reserved seats in the institutes. This means ten total seats, NOT ten seats for each institute.   • 3. Additional Teaching With Technology Series Offerings The SMART Board interactive whiteboard is a touch-sensitive display that connects to your computer and digital projector. Using a finger, you can control computer applications, write notes, search the Internet, and annotate and save your work. The SMART Notebook software is an application that lets you add interactivity to lessons through an array of powerful education tools and resources. Attend this three-hour workshop to learn the basics of how to use the SMART Board and the Notebook software in your classroom to engage students in hands-on interactive learning. Preschool Special Education Positions 7/1/10-8/6/10 Lead Preschool Teachers for P.A.W.S. Summer '10 Lead teachers for both the four and six week programs. Master's degree and DESE licenses in both early childhood education and special education required, expertise in using Applied Behavior Analysis as a teaching methodology is required for the six week long program. The speech and language pathologist would work with individuals and groups of middle school students on their language and social skill development. The summer school runs from July 1 to August 6. This is a 20 hour a week position. The rate for this position is $45/hr.
