COMING UP
The Buffaloes of West Texas A&M will take part
in their final regular season road contest of the
season on Saturday afternoon as they head
to San Angelo, Texas to take on the Rams of
Angelo State with tipoff set for 4 p.m. at the
Junell Center.

ANGELO STATE
Cinco Boone enters his second season at
the helm of the Rams after spending two
seasons as ASU’s Associate Head Coach under
current Texas Tech Head Coach Chris Beard.
In Boone’s first season at the helm, the Rams
advanced to the South Central Regional Finals.
The Rams enter the weekend with an overall
record of 14-9 with a 6-9 mark in LSC play
following a 93-90 loss to UT Permian Basin on
Thursday night in San Angelo.
ASU is led offensively by Quay King who has
gone 131-of-326 from the floor including 83-
of-224 from deep and 87-of-108 from the free
throw line to average 19.6 points per contest
while Thomas Tshikaya averages 8.5 rebounds
per game. The Rams have gone 613-of-1307
(46.9%) from the field this season including 175-
of-491 (35.6%) from long range and 441-of-621
(71%) from the charity stripe while averaging
40.6 (+2.8) rebounds and 80.1 (+6.2) points per
game.
The Buffs lead the all-time series against the
Rams, 40-24 with WT taking the first meeting
between the two teams this season back on
Jan. 12th in Canyon.

TAMUK RECAP
The Buffaloes of West Texas A&M trailed by just
five points at the break but Texas A&M Kingsville
shot 52% from the floor in the second half as
they outlasted WT, 76-59 in front of over 500
fans at the Steinke Center in Kingsville, Texas on
Thursday night in Lone Star Conference action.
WT was led by Eric Mosley who went 4-of-7
from the floor and 3-of-3 from deep to score
13 points in his third career start followed by
Chavlovich and Evans with 11 points each
while Mosley and O’Laughlin grabbed five
rebounds each. The Buffs went 19-of-55 (34.5%)
from the floor including 9-of-25 (36%) from deep
and 12-of-20 (60%) from the charity stripe with
36 rebounds (16 offensive, 19 defensive), 10
assists, 21 turnovers, no blocks and seven steals.
The Javelinas went 24-of-51 (47.1%) from the
floor including 6-of-15 (40%) from deep and
22-of-29 (75.9%) from the free throw line with 35
rebounds (11 offensive, 24 defensive), 12 assists,
18 turnovers, eight blocks and 13 steals. TAMUK
was led offensively by Wright who went 8-of-12
from the floor and 3-of-5 from deep to score 22
points followed by Byrd (21) and Marcus Frazier
(11) in double-figures while Stevenson grabbed
eight rebounds.
LAST MEETING WITH ASU (JAN. 12, 2017)
The then #15 Buffaloes had five players in
double figures and shot 54.1% from the floor
as they remained unbeaten inside of the First
United Bank Center with a 104-96 Lone Star
Conference win over the then #17 Rams
of Angelo State in front of over 1,100 fans in
Canyon.
The Buffs were led offensively by Chavlovich
with 23 points on the night followed by J. Evans
(21), Quaid (17), White (15) and Gove (11)
while Quaid led the team with eight rebounds
on the night. WT went 33-of-61 (54.1%) from the
field including 9-of-29 (31%) from deep and
29-of-34 (85.3%) from the free throw line with 32
rebounds (seven offensive, 25 defenisve), 18
assists, 10 turnovers, two blocks and five steals.
NCAA REGIONAL RANKINGS (FEB. 15)
Tarleton State sits atop of the regional rankings
followed by Colorado School of Mines, WT,
UT Permian Basin, Fort Lewis, Cameron, Texas
A&M-Commerce, Colorado State-Pueblo,
Regis and Texas A&M-Kingsville. The top eight
teams in the South Central Region will take
part in the Regional Tournament taking place
on March 11-14 at the top overall seed, the
winners of the three conference tournaments
will receive an automatic bid with the last five
spots being filled by at-large selections.

Angelo State Probable Starters
NABC DIVISION II TOP-25 POLL (FEB. 14)
The Buffs enter the week with an 21-6 overall record with a 9-5 mark
in Lone Star Conference play. Northwest Missouri State picked up all
16 of the possible first places votes for a total of 400 points followed
by Fairmont State (374), Indiana, Pa. (370), Bellarmine (341), Cal
Baptist (334), Kutztown (315), West Liberty (301), Hawai’i Pacific
(285), Tarleton State (273) and Queens, N.C. (248).
The South Central Region was represented by Tarleton State (#9),
Fort Lewis (#11), Colorado School of Mines (#22), West Texas A&M
(RV) and UT Permian Basin (RV).
HOME SWEET HOME
West Texas A&M hits the road for a two game road trip following
a pair of LSC home wins this past weekend, the Buffs are a perfect
13-0 at home this season. During those 13 home contests, WT has
shot 47.5% (377-of-794) including 33.7% (118-of-350) from behind the
arc and 76.6% (307-of-401) from the charity stripe to go along with
39.6 (+4.8) rebounds per game and 90.7 (+15.2) points per contest.

WT leads DII Basketball in two offensive categories: free throws
attempted (782), free throws made (574) while ranking ninth in total
rebounds (1,040), third in 3-pt field goal attempts (787) and 11th
in total 3-pt field goals made (263). Junior guard David Chavlov-
ich ranks sixth in 3-pt field goal attempts (228), 10th in field goal
attempts (418) and 17th in total points (535).

Tom Brown was hired on April 16, 2014, as the
17th head coach in WT men’s basketball history.
In just two short years Brown has turned around
the West Texas A&M University Basketball Program.
Brown led the team to its first 20+ win season since
2010-11. The Buffs were picked to finish 5th in the
LSC this past season and despite a pre-season,
season ending injury to sophomore starter Carl
White the team still managed to finish 2nd in the
LSC with an overall record of 21-10. The 2nd place
finish is the highest since the conference was split
North/South. The Buffs continued to battle minor
injuries throughout the year but every player that
was called on would step up. Under Brown’s di-
rection the team had some very strong individual
performances. WT sophomore guard David Chav-
lovich led the way. For his outstanding play David
was named an NABC All-American, the Lone Star
Conference Player of the Year and 1st Team All-
LSC selection. Sophomore Jordan Evans (playing
in his first season) received honorable mention
All-LSC acclaim. The Buffs again were dominate in
the classroom as the team GPA exceeded a 3.0
for the year.
2015-16 the Buffs set a new record in the class-
room. The team recorded the highest GPA for
Men’s Basketball in a season.
Coach Brown inherited a WT team that won
two games in the LSC and 10 games overall in
2013-14. Brown had to start from scratch in late
April, the team had three seniors and one walkon
redshirt freshman. Just three student-athletes saw
playing time from the previous year and the team
was picked to finish last in the Lone Star Confer-
ence Preseason Poll. However, under Brown West
Texas A&M University finished the season 5th in the
LSC and posted a 17-12 overall record. The Buffs
made the LSC Tournament as the fifth seed. There
were some individual accolades as well, all three
of the returning seniors improved on their scoring
average from the previous season. Tez Dumars
surpassed Maurice Cheeks in WT All-Time scoring
and finished his career ranked 4th All-Time in
scoring at WT. David Chavlovich was the squads
leading scorer, 2nd Team All-Conference Perform-
er and the Freshman of the Year in the LSC as he
averaged 16.5 points per contest to go along with
93 assists and 30 steals.
In 2014-15, the Buffs set a new record in the
classroom. The team recorded the highest GPA
for Men’s Basketball in a season.
Tom was the driving force as the Associate
Head Coach and head recruiter in the most
successful Division II men’s basketball program
in recent history at Winona State University. The
Warriors won the NCAA Division II National Cham-
pionship in 2006 and 2008 and finished as the
National Finalist in 2007. During that span, Winona
State posted an unprecedented 105-6 record.
WT Assistant Coach Quincy Henderson played for
Coach Brown from 2005-2008. Quincy’s record as
a collegiate player at WSU was 105-6.
Named Division II Bulletin’s ‘Program of the
Decade’ for 2000-2009, WSU set a NCAA Division II
record with 57 consecutive wins, a run that began
on Jan. 13, 2006, and didn’t end until the national
title game on Mar. 24, 2007. The 2007-08 Warrior
squad won a NCAA record 38 games.
An excellent recruiter and teacher, Brown
recruited and developed some of the best
players in the nation with three National Player
of the Year recipients, along with seven first team
All-America honorees. 11 players total have
earned All-America status including WT Sopho-
more David Chavlovich. Brown has coached five
NSIC Most Valuable Players, seven NSIC Defen-
sive Players of the Year and two Elite Eight Most
Valuable Players.
Brown is doing it again at WT as David Chav-
lovich has earned both Freshman of the Year and
Player of the Year in the best Division II Confer-
ence in the Nation, the Lone Star Conference.
Brown attended and played basketball
(1988-1992) and baseball (1991) at Winona State
University. He finished his Warrior career ranked
fifth in program history in scoring, second in assists
and first in steals. He earned his bachelor’s degree
in 1993 in physical education and completed his
master’s degree in education in 1998.
He and his wife Dr. Trisha Brown are the proud
parents of three children, TJ, Zach and Ella. Dr.
Brown is currently an Instructor and works in the
Sports & Exercise Science Department at West
Texas A&M.

double-figures to lead WT to an 86-72
season opening win over the Azusa
Pacific Cougars to open up the CCA
Division II Tipoff Classic at the Santia-
go Canyon College Athletics Com-
plex in Orange, California.
The Buffs went 28-of-64 (43.8%) from
the floor including 10-of-24 (41.7%)
from deep and 20-of-28 (71.4%) from
the charity stripe to go along with 37
rebounds (nine offensive, 28 defen-
sive), 13 assist, seven turnovers, two
blocks and nine steals. Evans led the
way for WT with 20 points followed by
Chavlovich (16), Walton (14), White
(13), and Quaid (12) in double-digits
while Quaid ended the game with 10
rebounds for a double-double.
Azusa Pacific went 23-of-57 (40.4%)
from the field including 9-of-26 (34.6%
from long range and 17-of-23 (73.9%)
from the free throw line to go along
with 40 rebounds (10 offensive, 30
defensive), 13 assists, 20 turnovers,
two blocks and four steals. Schreiber
led all players with 25 points on the
afternoon followed by Peterson with

guard Jordan Evans scored 20 points
for the second straight contest as the
Buffs shot 50 percent from the floor
in an 83-70 win over St. Cloud State
during the CCA Division II Tipoff Clas-
sic at the Santiago Canyon College
Athletics Complex in Orange, Califor-
nia.
The Buffs were led offensively by Ev-
ans with his second straight 20-point
performance followed by White with
17 and Chavlovich with 15. Walton,
Chavlovich and White grabbed six
rebounds each while Chavlovich
dished out five steals. WT went 29-of-
58 (50%) from the floor including 11-
of-25 (44%) from deep and 14-of-28
(50%) with 36 rebounds (nine offen-
sive, 27 defensive), 17 assists, 13 turn-
overs, two blocks and three steals.
The Huskies were led by Davis with
23 points followed by Scottie Stone
with 16 while Davis grabbed eight
rebounds on the night. SCSU went 22-
of-61 (36.1%) from the floor including
7-of-21 (33.3%) from long range and
19-of-26 (73.1%) from the free throw
line to go along with 42 rebounds (15
offensive, 27 defensive), 11 assists, 16
turnovers, five blocks and five steals.
ORANGE, CA - The Buffaloes of West
Texas A&M are off to their best start
to a season since 2012-13 thanks to
an 11-0 run in the heart of the sec-
ond half as WT outlasted #23 Arkan-
sas-Fort Smith, 94-86 in the finale of
the CCA Division II Tipoff Classic at
the Santiago Canyon College Athlet-
ics Complex in Orange, California.
The Buffs were led by Walton with 24
points followed by Chavlovich (19),
Evans (17) and Golightly Jr. (10) with
double-digit points while Chavlovich
led WT with six rebounds and three
assists. WT went 33-of-65 (50.8%) from
the free throw line to go along with 37
rebounds (13 offensive, 24 defensive),
13 assists, 13 turnovers, five blocks
and three steals.
UAFS was led by Thomas with 20
points and five rebounds followed
by Youngblood with 19 and Parker
with 14 points and a team leading
six rebounds. The Lions went 29-of-
60 (48.3%) from the floor including
line to go along with 31 rebounds
(eight offensive, 23 defensive), 13
assists, nine turnovers, one block and
eight steals.
