Profile Enthusiastic, dedicated, self motivated with management and design
appreciation. I am very CAD software and use a robotic total station,
GNSS and 3D scanning equipment for setting out and surveying with
optimal accuracy and efficiency.
After successful career progression from junior surveyor to
construction manager I decided I did not wish to follow a managerial
route and instead specialise in site engineering and surveying. Over
the past 10 years I have built a client base including localised and
national developers and design consultants.

The following are the major site engineering projects which I have
personally worked on. Land and measured building survey work is
excluded.
Setting out on several housing development sites including the roads,
sewers and plots.
The new ITV Coronation Street studios in Manchester. I maintained
the site control points for the contractor’s site engineers. Provided
detailed as built surveys for checking and due to a structural failure I
carried out a major deformation study.
Providing site engineering and surveying services to Building Schools
for the Future sites across Birmingham. Originally I was employed to
monitor a Victorian retaining wall and the tower crane base during
construction. This work extended to managing a ground works
package on one Academy, upon completion I was retained for various
work on several other Academies and then Prison and MOD projects.

Working on the prestigious 500m+ Media City project in Salford. From
schematics I designed and implemented the physical complex site
utility network. This involved the manipulation of 3D Cad models and
the consideration of prolific design information in order to successfully
route the utilities. I set out those routes ensuring continuity of work for
up to eight utility teams. Constant monitoring of works in progress was
required and upon completion I produced highly detailed as-laid
drawings and cable management matrices.

Leeds, 85No Student studio apartments, traditional build but on a
severely sloping site.
Windermere street regeneration works. Kerb re-alignment and
introduction of natural surfacing materials.
Blackpool promenade, regeneration and sea defence project. I
worked on the renewal of tram lines from North to South Pier. This
involved the meticulous precise alignment of every metre of rail.
Management and setting out of a 6M multi unit retail park with
extensive delivery yard, coach and car park. The project involved
major enabling earthworks and over 3500m3 of concrete used by 7
different contractors for which I maintained precise reconciliation
records. Unfortunately Ham went into receivership only weeks before
the site would have been completed. I was retained under
recommendation from the client by the new contractors Kier North
West.

Providing setting out, as built records “muck shift” volumes and quality
checking on numerous sites concurrently throughout the North West.
Eurogold were the ground works contractors on the West Contracting
site and had persistently tried to gain my employment since my
departure.

6m Multi storey car park erection. Completely pre-cast concrete
structure from ground level up. I was responsible for the setting out of
the foundation and drainage works followed by the alignment of
precast units.

2004
35M, 11 and 20 storey apartment blocks in Manchester city centre. I
worked on the 2 storey car park basement construction which involved
a contiguous pile wall with 6t props to enable excavation. This was
followed by a substantial piled reinforced concrete substructure and
slip form lift cores. During this phase I was the sole manager on site
reporting to the construction director.

I joined this newly established company and took responsibility of
engineering staff on all sites. I established site quality control
procedures and standardised their site commercial record keeping. I
trained junior engineers in efficient setting out procedures and instilled
the importance of proper “booking”.

management, I was encouraged to apply for this position by a Totty
site manager after working on one of their sites for Tim Butler.

The first project I worked on was a 1m fast track 60 bed Travel Inn.
The second was at Manchester University constructing a new concert
hall connected to refurbished historic buildings on three sides, value
6m. This was followed by a 7m steel frame block of 84 apartments
over 8 floors My final project for was a 15m apartment complex in
Chester city centre where I had three trainee engineers under my
supervision.

Land surveying and site engineering on a variety of civil engineering
projects including roads and sewers; piling; reinforced concrete;
quarry, stock pile and marine surveying. I also trained a junior
engineer during this position. As the company’s only engineer I
worked on larger and more challenging projects then my previous
employment. I was fully conversant in setting out by this time and also
had started to use CAD software.
