During the fall of 2014, while a graduate student at NC State, Yafan Wu was
an intern with the Hillsborough Street Community Service Corporation under my
supervision. The HSCSC is a nonprofit corporation Business Improvement District
dedicated to the continued economic development of Hillsborough Street.
As an intern Yafan focused on assisting us with projects associated with urban
planning, parking and transportation planning. She was especially helpful in creating
a detailed map of the parking lots and spaces around NC State, which helps visitors
better navigate where to park. That project required researching the location, number
of spaces, nature of the fees, and acccessability of the parking options in our
community, as well and designing a user friendly map to illustrate all the
information.
I found Yafan to be very professional, highly dependable and an excellent team
player. She is creative, self motivated and willing to take personal responsibly to
managing complex tasks. She made valuable suggestions for how to approach and
manage the projects she was working on, to better accomplish the goals and final
product. She worked especially well in her intern team.
Yafan taught me quite a bit during the internship and I believe she enjoyed learning
and growing while part of our team. She was a valuable part of our organization and
I fully endorse her. She is eager to learn, grow and contribute, and I trust would be a
great addition to any organization.
