Identity
• The collective aspect of the set of characteristics by
  which a thing is definitively recognizable or known:
  "If the broadcast group is the financial guts of the
  company, the news division is its public identity" (Bill
  Powell).

• As discussed above, what I have understood about
  the term ‘Identity’ is that it is a characteristic of a
  person e.g. the geek, mean girl, gangster etc.
Collective identity
• A collective identity refers to individuals' sense of
  belonging (the identity) to a group (the collective).

• As discussed above, what I have understood about
  the term ‘Collective identity’ is that it is the identity
  of a group of people e.g. the chavs, the emos, the
  grungers etc.
Mediation
• Mediation, designate processes for bringing about
  agreement or reconciliation between opponents in
  a dispute. Mediation implies deliberation that results
  in solutions that may or may not be accepted by
  the contending parties.

• As discussed above, what I have understood about
  the term ‘Mediation’ is that, having a discussion with
  an opponent, and ending with an agreement.
Representation
• the act of representing.
• the state of being represented.
• action or speech on behalf of a person, group, business
  house, state, or the like by an agent, deputy, or
  representative.
• the state or fact of being so represented: to demand
  representation on a board of directors.

• As discussed above, what I have understood about the term
  ‘representation’ is that, it is the act of presenting an idea to a
  crowd or making a speech.
Hegemony
• Hegemony ("leadership", "rule") is an indirect form of
  government of imperial dominance in which the
  hegemon (leader state) rules geopolitically
  subordinate states by the implied means of
  power, the threat of force, rather than by direct
  military force.

• As discussed above, what I have understood about
  the term ‘ Hegemony’ is that it could be referred to
  a country or a person with masses of
  power, towards others.
Colonialism
• Colonialism is the
  establishment, exploitation, maintenance, acquisitio
  n and expansion of colonies in one territory by
  people from another territory.

• As discussed above, what I have understood about
  the term ‘Colonialism’ is that, this could be
  associated with the slave trade. Where British
  people colonised and exploited Africa.
Imperial ‘other’
• of, like, or pertaining to an empire.
• of, like, or pertaining to an emperor or empress.
• characterizing the rule or authority of a sovereign
  state over its dependencies.
• of the nature or rank of an emperor or supreme
  ruler.
• of a commanding quality, manner, aspect, etc.

  the term ‘Imperial’ is that, this could be associated
  with the British Empire as it masses of power over
  many countries during the Victorian era.
Youth subculture
• a minority youth culture whose distinctiveness

  background of its members; often characterized by
  its adoption of a particular music genre.
