5. PLANT
The Senegal Gum Acacia is a small thorny plant that grows in the
Affrican Savannah. It can grow up to 20 meters tall. It is a flat
topped tree with many leaves and branches. There are thorns all
over the branches. The yellow flowers grow between the thorns
and the leaves are a grey green colour. These flowers turn into
seed pods about 8 inches long and 2-3 inches wide. The seed
pods are brownish yellow and look dried up all over the plant.
6. THE GOLDEN EAGLE
This bird is one of North America’s largest birds of prey and the national bird of Mexico. It has
golden brown feathers on its head and neck. They are extremely quick diving at their prey at
speeds of up to 220 km / hour. Golden eagles use their speed and sharp talons to snatch up
rabbits, marmots, and ground squirrels. They also eat carrion, reptiles, birds, fish, and smaller prey
such as large insects. They have even been known to attack full grown deer. Farmers used to think
the birds would prey on their livestock, but studies show that this is not really a problem. The
Golden Eagle is now a protected species.
