 Hospital Management System:
 Hospital Information System (HIS) or Hospital Management Information System
(HMIS)
 It is basically designed for any hospital to replace their existing manual or paper
based system. Hospitals use manual system for management and maintenance of
critical information which require numerous paper forms with data store spread
throughout hospital management infrastructure. Multiple copies of same information
exist in the hospital
 All of this information must be managed in an efficient so that an institution’s
resources may be efficiently utilized HMS will automate the management of hospital
making it more effect and error free which aims at standardizing data. These services
are to be provided in an efficient, cost effective manner with goal of reducing time
and resources currently requires for such tasks.
 Example in Pakistan:

 Pharmacy Management:
 This module works by receiving the prescriptions from the consulting doctors that
automatically reflects into dispensing unit to a respective patient which does not
require any manual intervention.
 The pharmaceutical inventory has also the provisions for FIFO and LIFO
dispensing methods that can work as per the hospital requirements.
 The batch nos., drug interactions, mfg. dates, expiry dates and all the related
details are properly displayed to avoid wrong medicine distribution.
 Appointment and queue management:
 This module allows doctors and nurses to view available time slots and allocate
appointments accordingly.
 It prevents the system from creating an appointment if the doctor is on leave or
absent or busy in the OT.
 The appointments are given the date, time, department, doctor and the type of visit
of the patient.
 Laundry Management:
 This module facilities and keeps track of the housekeeping activities like patient
room preparation, sweeping/mopping floors, dusting furniture, cleaning fixtures/
walls/ windows/ ceiling/ bathrooms, etc.
 A schedule is maintained which alerts the Housekeeping and laundry department of
the activities that are to be performed.
 HR Management:
 The system keeps track of the entire staff of the hospital.
 The details of each and every staff (User) will be maintained and a username and
password will be provided to concern users so that they can log on to the system
and perform activities related to there concern department.
 Nursing and ward management:
 Our ward management module provides the windows to nursing staff by facilitating
them to monitor all their wards on a same floor.
 In this module, special units like OT and ICU are effectively & practically managed
that tracks all the services given to the patients connecting their defined wards.
 This ensures that the given facility for nurses guaranteed maintain and administer
better patient care in the hospitals.
 Resource Management:
 The real time information is available in Resource Management Module.
 All the appointments are scheduled through this module.
 You can view the availability of doctors or visiting consultants at any time required.
 You can avail the appointment details on your mobile phone or on your personal
desktop.
 You can check the status of operation theatres and the rooms vacant at any time
with resource scheduling module.
 The purchase details of various surgical items can be viewed as required.
 Financial Management:
 The most important is “Finance & Accounts” module deals with entire exercise of
maintaining the accounting practices and ensures that no double data entry is
required to create all important reports and yet fulfils all statutory of the country.
 This module cover all features from all expenses, all incomes, purchases, ledgers
and other books of accounts as per standard practice while maintaining users’ data
security.
 Waste Management:
 It keeps track of the collection and disposal of Bio-medical waste produced in UHS.
 It identifies the areas within the organization where the waste is actually generated
and finally disposed off.
 It also manages the time frames within which the waste has to be disposed off and
provides a checklist for the same.
 Operating Room Management:
 This module offers an optimum usage and tracks all surgeries that can take place
in the hospital.
 Right from scheduling the operation, managing the surgery team, recording the
surgery details to checklists associated with a surgery.
 It manages in advance and prepares for a surgery or operation by keeping the
records of all items required during the operation.
 It also maintains the data on preoperative and postoperative conditions of the
patient.
 Store Management:
 It helps you keep track of each and every item consumed within hospital.
 It keeps track of the sales and purchases
 The consumable as well as non consumable items are identified and accounted
for.
 It also contains FIFO and LIFO management of the inventory items.
 Receiving quotations and issuing purchase orders to various vendors.
 Blood Management:
It contains blood donor list and blood is managed in this module in such a way that
if any patient need urgent blood then here is all detail about sample of blood stored.
 Laboratory Management:
 The system keeps track of the laboratories in the hospital.
 The system keeps track of the tests performed on different patients and its records
will be maintained by the system.
 Registration and Enquiry Management:
 It handles the front desk pressure without much effort and very effectively manages
the patient registration, appointment scheduling and all enquiries related to taking
an appointment, availability of specialist doctors and info on the admitted patients.

  • 3.  Hospital Management System:  Hospital Information System (HIS) or Hospital Management Information System (HMIS)  It is basically designed for any hospital to replace their existing manual or paper based system. Hospitals use manual system for management and maintenance of critical information which require numerous paper forms with data store spread throughout hospital management infrastructure. Multiple copies of same information exist in the hospital  All of this information must be managed in an efficient so that an institution’s resources may be efficiently utilized HMS will automate the management of hospital making it more effect and error free which aims at standardizing data. These services are to be provided in an efficient, cost effective manner with goal of reducing time and resources currently requires for such tasks.

  • 14.  Appointment and queue management:  This module allows doctors and nurses to view available time slots and allocate appointments accordingly.  It prevents the system from creating an appointment if the doctor is on leave or absent or busy in the OT.  The appointments are given the date, time, department, doctor and the type of visit of the patient.

  • 16.  Laundry Management:  This module facilities and keeps track of the housekeeping activities like patient room preparation, sweeping/mopping floors, dusting furniture, cleaning fixtures/ walls/ windows/ ceiling/ bathrooms, etc.  A schedule is maintained which alerts the Housekeeping and laundry department of the activities that are to be performed.
  • 17.  HR Management:  The system keeps track of the entire staff of the hospital.  The details of each and every staff (User) will be maintained and a username and password will be provided to concern users so that they can log on to the system and perform activities related to there concern department.

  • 19.  Nursing and ward management:  Our ward management module provides the windows to nursing staff by facilitating them to monitor all their wards on a same floor.  In this module, special units like OT and ICU are effectively & practically managed that tracks all the services given to the patients connecting their defined wards.  This ensures that the given facility for nurses guaranteed maintain and administer better patient care in the hospitals.

  • 24.  Waste Management:  It keeps track of the collection and disposal of Bio-medical waste produced in UHS.  It identifies the areas within the organization where the waste is actually generated and finally disposed off.  It also manages the time frames within which the waste has to be disposed off and provides a checklist for the same.
  • 25.  Operating Room Management:  This module offers an optimum usage and tracks all surgeries that can take place in the hospital.  Right from scheduling the operation, managing the surgery team, recording the surgery details to checklists associated with a surgery.  It manages in advance and prepares for a surgery or operation by keeping the records of all items required during the operation.  It also maintains the data on preoperative and postoperative conditions of the patient.

  • 28.  Blood Management: It contains blood donor list and blood is managed in this module in such a way that if any patient need urgent blood then here is all detail about sample of blood stored.
