This document summarizes a final year defense presentation on leveraging an interactive web-based virtual classroom. The presentation outlines the introduction, aim and objectives, hypothesis, research questions, literature review, proposed model, design and development, testing and evaluation, result analysis, performance analysis, and conclusion. It discusses designing a virtual classroom to allow interactive teaching and learning between teachers and students. Testing showed the classroom was an effective environment for both learning and teaching. The presentation concludes that a virtual classroom can benefit teachers and students and hopes it will support learning and teaching in the future.

Introduction
• An Interactive web based virtual classroom can be defined as
an online teaching and learning portal unlike physical
classroom.
• Here the term ‘Interactive’ that defines face to face
communication which is commonly seen in the physical
classroom.
• Analyzing several research and related works, this paper
shows an effective way for designing a web based virtual
classroom.

Aim and Objectives
• Although many research have been done to explore the
effective way of virtual education, but very few of them have
been conducted in the context of Bangladesh.
• The main goal of this research is -
– to explore an effective way that can play a vital role in virtual
education particularly in the context of Bangladesh
– To provide an effective and easy method for teaching and learning
– To furnish the modern education among the students of rural area
– To reduce the distances between teacher and student
– To reduce the waste of time

An extensive research has been done in the area of virtual
education, Some of them are illustrated here-
•A large publishing company of technological magazines and
news (Comjagat.com) has deployed a web based virtual
classroom that deals with live classes by video streaming
lectures.
•Jago Foundation has started Jago online school in several
villages in Bangladesh. The online classes are conducted by video
conferencing tools using Grameenphon 3G network where a
teacher from a city can conduct classes for the village students.

• An online teaching and learning portal Coursea is a profit
educational organization founded by computer science professors
Andrew Ng and Daphne Koller from Stanford University that deals
with massive open online courses (MOOC). Generally works with
cooperation of different Universities to make some of their courses
available in online classroom also many engineering other different
courses are available. Here the live classes are conducted by video
streaming lectures.

• Udemy.com (2010) is a platform or marketplace for online learning.
Unlike academic MOOC programs driven by traditional collegiate
coursework, Udemy provides tools which enable users to create a
course, promote it and earn money from student tuition charges. It
provides the facility of Video streaming class including audio and
video conversations.

criteria –

– Understanding the classroom and lectures
– Virtual Interactions and discussion

• Effectiveness measurement in the area of learning
– There are five parameters. Each parameter has 1 point and five questions. Each question
carries 0.2 points. Therefore the calculation is -
– 1 parameter = (5 question) x 0.2 = 1
– (5 parameters) x 1 = 5
– Effectiveness measurement in the area of learning holds 5 points.
• Effectiveness measurement in the area of teaching
– There are total 10 questions. Each question carries 0.5 points. Therefore the calculation
is -
– (10 question x 0.5) = 5
– Effectiveness measurement in the area of teaching holds 5 points.

• The average effectiveness measurement calculation is -
– (Effectiveness point in the area of learning + Effectiveness point in the area of teaching)
/ 2
– We assume the both points are 3.6 and 4.1 respectively. The calculation is
– The effectiveness point is - (3.6 + 4.1)/2 = 3.85
• Now converting it to percentage
– The maximum point is 5. So each point carries 20% .
– 0.1 = 2%
– 0.2 = 4%
– 1 = 20%
– Therefore 3.85 = 70.7%

Conclusion
• Virtual Classroom is a web application that allows users an effective
environment of teaching and learning. Both Teachers and Students can be
benefitted in training and learning by this application.
• Classroom environment is user friendly as to navigate easily to find the
resources and class lectures
• Hope this will be a better solution in the field of learning and teaching
for present and future generation.
