 CLASSIFICATION OF LINEN FOR LAUNDERING
PURPOSE
 Laundry service is responsible for
providing an adequate, clean and
constant supply of linen to all users. The
basic tasks include: sorting, washing ,
extracting, drying, ironing, folding,
mending and delivery. The main purpose
of this department is to provide clean
material to the patients and ensure that
hygienic conditions are maintained in the
process.
 The linen and laundry service
department is situated away from the
hospital area to protect the hospital
environment from the infection
because if the linen and laundry
service department situated in the
hospital that should be cause the
infection. So always the linen and
laundry department away from
hospital work.
 Wash through contractor-Laundering on
contract
 b ) Rental system Hire laundered -linen from
contractor Replacement and laundering is
done by contractor Advantage -Cost less
Disadvantage 1- totally dependent on
contractor
 2.constant supervision ,3 .Transportation
 ii ) Centralized co-operative laundry

WASHER CUM EXTRACTOR-
This is a combination of
washer and an extractor in
one unit.
Hydroextractor- also
simply called extractor ,
removal of water after the
washing cycle in the washer.
DRYER OR TRUMBLER- A
HYDROEXTRACTOR EXTRACTS
ALMOST 80% OF WATER FROM
THE LINEN. A dryer brings the
linen up to an almost dry state.

as pyjama, kurta, of surgeons . O.T sheets such as
big sheets, small sheets, cut sheets, mackintosh,
rubber sheets , caps, masks trolley covers
 Linen and laundry services are play most
important role in hospital sector. The linen
and laundry are represent the quality of
services provide by the hospital and also the
standard of the hospital. Now days neat and
clean linen are most important and changed
on daily basis to avoid the any kind of
infection. Clean linen also help in the good
environment of the hospital.
