For the purpose of this survey, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is
described to respondents as chatbots, robots, virtual
assistants, intelligent machines, etc., such as Alexa or
Google Home.

WHAT WE
LEARNED:
• Nearly 6 in 10 Californians are comfortable
using AI in some aspects of their day to day
life.
• Most Californians also say they would support
the use of AI to deliver government services
more efficiently (54%), provide quicker
responses to questions (58%) and make
services available after normal business hours
(61%).
• Only 40% of Californians are confident that AI
would be used ethically and responsibly by
government.
