What are the most popular Social Media platforms in our region this month? • Facebook remained the number one platform in Top 15 Social Media Sites August 2012 both countries (no surprise there!) and even increased the amount of users in Australia by Australia % Of AUS New Zealand % Of NZ Population Population approximately 500,000. This equates to a staggering 50.65% of the Australian population having a Facebook account. 1 Facebook 11,500,000 50.65% Facebook 2,600,000 58.57% 2 YouTube 11,000,000 48.44% Youtube 2,400,000 54.07% • Other platforms that experienced an increase in 3 users were Reddit in Australia by approximately Blogspot 4,000,000 17.62% Linkedin 430,000 9.69% 10,000 users and Tumblr in New Zealand by 4 LinkedIn 2,200,000 9.69% Twitter 350,000 7.88% approximately 20,000 users. 5 Twitter 2,114,000 9.31% WordPress 320,000 7.21% 3 • To balance out the rise of these sites, similar 6 WordPress 1,600,000 7.05% Tumblr 290,000 6.53% sites experienced a decrease over the 7 Tumblr 1,200,000 5.28% Flickr 180,000 4.05% month. Blogspot saw a 10,000 user decrease in both Australia and New Zealand.
