• Residents on Primrose Place have requested
consideration for a new stop sign on Primrose
Place at the intersection with Buttercup Drive
• A stop sign is currently erected on Primrose Place
at the intersection with Wintergreen Drive
• Residents expressed concern for a heavy volume of
commuter traffic, vehicle speeds and stop sign
violations at the existing stop sign location

• Primrose Place is a residential street frequently
used by walkers/joggers and students attending
Alamo Heights High School
• The width of the street is thirty feet and does not
have sidewalks for pedestrians and neighborhood
children
• Vehicles traveling in an easterly direction past
Buttercup Drive experience a downhill grade in the
roadway to the intersection with N New Braunfels

• Officers were deployed to monitor the driving
behaviors of vehicles traveling on Primrose Place
for an initial two-week period
• Officers observed traffic speeds to be within
tolerances but did confirm vehicles committing stop
sign violations on Primrose Place at Wintergreen
Drive
• A mechanical traffic survey was contracted to
record vehicle speeds and vehicle volume

• Letters were mailed to residents having addresses
in the 200 and 300 blocks of Primrose Place asking
for their input into the request for a new stop sign
on Primrose Place
8 responses were in favor
2 responses were opposed
• City Attorney Michael Brenan reviewed a proposed
ordinance
• Public works personnel will install the sign poles
and stop signs if approved

• The request for consideration of new stop sign
intersections is consistent with the Texas
Transportation Code and Section 18-98 “Stop
Intersections” of the City Code providing that the
City Council may designate any street intersection
as a stop intersection and designate the streets
upon which vehicles shall stop before entering such
intersection

cement and labor to install two stop signs on
Primrose Place east and west of the
intersection with Buttercup
