The document discusses using QR codes in education. It describes what QR codes are and how they can store large amounts of data. Examples are given of how QR codes could be used for various educational projects, such as linking to instructional videos through codes placed on science equipment or providing contact information for professors through codes placed in their offices. The potential for QR codes to enhance reference materials, orientation activities, and other areas of education is explored.

2. What is a QR
Code?
QR stands for Quick Response code. It is a type of
matrix barcode or two-dimensional code first
designed for the automotive industry by a Toyota
subsidiary, Denso Wave. It was originally used to
track vehicles during the manufacturing process.
Quick Response code allows for rapid decoding of
information. QR codes have the ability to encode
a much larger amount of data than the original
linear barcode. This is one of the main reasons
why QR codes have started to be widely adopted
by the marketing industry.
It is also the same reason why the education
industry should be paying attention.

3. WHY USE QR CODES?
QR Codes are much more than barcodes. They can contain over 4000 characters of information. QR Codes can
present a variety of options that connect the end user with a powerful data set.
