The document discusses the key changes to OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard, including adopting a universal hazard classification system, replacing MSDS with SDS (Safety Data Sheet) having a standard 16-section format with 11 sections required by OSHA, and requiring labels to include pictograms with standardized designs framed in red and representing chemical hazards. Pictograms must be included on labels by June 1, 2015, when suppliers are required to comply with the new standard. The training reviews these changes and pictograms and what to look for in SDS.

7. Pictograms and HazardsPictograms and Hazards
As of June 1, 2015, the Hazard
Communication Standard (HCS)
will require pictograms on labels to
alert users of the chemical
hazards to which they may be
exposed.
Each pictogram consists of a
symbol on a white background
framed within a red border and
represents a distinct hazard(s).
The pictogram on the label is
determined by the chemical
hazard classification.
Let’s take a closer look at each
one
