stand up to speak
•Courage is also to sit and stay

Courage
5. The best time for you to hold your tongue is the
time you feel you must say something or burst out.
6. Tongue the Culprit
Every morning the whole
body warns the tongue saying
“Fear Allah concerning us, for we
are (dependant) upon you. If you
are upright then we will be
upright and if you are corrupt
then we will be corrupt.”
[Sunnan at Tirmidhi]
9. Backbiting (Gheebah)
“Do not backbite each other, would
any of you wish to eat the flesh of
your dead brother, no rather you
would hate it! ”
[Hujurat: 12]
10. •
Once a woman visited Aisha (r.a) and when the
woman got up to leave, Aisha (r.a) made a sign
with her hand indicating to the Prophet that the
woman was short of stature.
The Prophet (s.a.w) immediately chastised her,
saying, “You have said a saying that if mixed
with the sea it would change its colour.”
[Abu Dawood]
11. ل ٍةَزَمُه ِّلُكِّل ٌلْيَوٍةَزَم
“Woe to every slanderer
and backbiter.” [Humaza: 1]
“The telltale will not enter
paradise.”[Bukhari and Muslim]
12. Once the Prophet (s.a.w) passed
by two graves and said,
“They are being punished!
As regards to one of them, he used to go
around gossip-mongering and as regards
to the other he was not careful while
urinating” [Bukhari and Muslim]
13. “A person utters a word thoughtlessly (i.e., without thinking about its
being good or not) and, As a result of which, he will fall down into the
fire of Hell deeper than the distance between the east and the west. ”
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
14. Why to Think before we speak???
َق نم ُظفَْلي اَّمَّّلإ ٍلْو
َع ٌيبقَر هْيَدَلٌديِت
Surah Qaf: 18
“Not a word is said
except that there is a
watcher by him ready
to record it.”
Surah Qaf: 18

neglectful Good deeds vs Bad
deeds

are the believers,
those who in their
prayer have
Khushoo’ and those
who refrain from
vain talk.”

between his two lips and what is
between his two legs, I can guarantee
for him Paradise.”

bad mood!
You will have many opportunities
to change your mood, but you will
never get the opportunity to
replace the words you spoke.
18. “Do not indulge in excessive talk except
when remembering Allah.
Excessive talking without the
Remembrance of Allah hardens the
heart;
and those who are the farthest from
Allah are those whose hearts are hard.”
[At-Tirmidhi]
19. An experiment proved
that the decaying of an
apple was faster in the
bottle that had the
word ‘HATE’ written on
it as compare to the one
which had ‘LOVE’
written on its bottle!
Do our words really have an impact
on others?
21. “O you who believe! Fear Allah and speak a word that is
right. He will set right for you your deeds and forgive your

refuge in You from
the evils of my

Allah taught the bayyan/ the ability to express. Which makes us superior to the animals
Each one of us is blessed with a very precious gift, the gift of speech, the gift of talking, of language, of being able to express our feelings, emotions, ideas or plans through words and communicating them to others. But, alas, as with every gift, overusing it may lead to unexpected results.
Thus this blessing must be used in a wise manner.

Tongue and Taqwa
Imaam ash-Shafiee (rahimahullah) said: If you wish to speak then it is upon you to think before you speak. If you think there is good in it then speak and if not then do not speak. Before you talk, ask yourself: Will this saying of mine please Allah? Will this saying of mine bring me closer to Allah? Does this saying earn with it obedience to Allah? If yes, speak, if not, remain silent.
what we say, whatever we listen to, wherever we go, whatever we write, and whatever we see. We will be asked on the Day of Judgement.
On the Day of Judgement our physical organs will stand as witnesses for or against us.
