What is Web 2.0? 2nd generation of the internet 1st = push 2nd = push & pull Social web & interactive media
Facebook: - More than 200 million users - More than 3.5 billion minutes are spent  on Facebook each day (worldwide)  -More than 4 million users  become fans of Pages each day  (facebook.com) Twitter: - 4 to 5 million users - 5 to10 thousand new  accounts each day (State of the Twittersphere Q4 2008)
Twitter “Microblogging” – 140 characters or less When blogging met text messaging  Answers the question, “What are you doing?” Better question? – “What’s important to you?”

Add a Twitter feed to HTML site
Network & build reputation Reply to others’ messages  @reply is a public message sent from one person to another  Direct messages are private messages sent from one Twitter person to another (only to someone who follows you) “ReTweet” Spread the message: use RT@username to repost a message they wrote

Tips for searching:Use quotes around keywords to search for a phrase, or use standard operators like OR to search for either search term, or use the minus sign to exclude a term  The # symbol is used to define the topic words in a post.  Search using a # symbol to find entries on that subject.  Use smile or frown emoticons to search for messages that include those (or variations on) those emoticons or reflect those feelings Search for messages coming from a specific location.  Combine a keyword with near:“city name”
