The presentation attempts an application based critique of Adorno's Culture Industry Reconsidered. Originally presented by Anjan Behera @ Christ University, Culture Studies session presided by Asst. Prof. M. Padmakumar
5. A mural from the Oklahoma State Registerate.
Adorno’s view- mechanical reproduction of art has made art accessible to
every one, hence there remains a boundary between high and low art no
more.
People may be able to access every art through internet, exhibitions,
copies of the original, but the original still lies with the ‘rich’.
New way of distinction- the rich has access to the original, while others
may have access to the copies. Distinction still present. Ownership issues.
I and chandu have talked about mass culture / culture industry . U can just begin with that . No problem
Fine no repetition u have to talk a little other wise u cant make ur point . though we have discussed this in the class
Nice…
K in this bit what I discussed today is , with rise of culture industry products are reproduced and with the mass production , the aura that is attached with high art is no more there with it . Earlier high art was limited to elite people and low art for common people with mechanical reproduction every one can access every art and there is no distinction between high art and low art and thus high art and low art are integrated.
Nice ….
Good ….
Even I gave this example . May be can talk with different perspective . What I discussed today was how product of culture industry becomes its own advertisement.
I liked it its very good observation . Text loosing its context with commodification . New perspective ….
