Technical guideleliness and google adsence

  1. 1. TECHNICALGUIDELINES FORGOOGLE ADSENSE
  2. 2. Use a text browser such as Lynx toexamine your site, because most searchengine spiders see your site much asLynx would. If fancy features such asJavaScript, cookies, session IDs, frames,DHTML, or Flash keep you from seeingall of your site in a text browser, thensearch engine spiders may have troublecrawling your site.
  3. 3. Allow search bots to crawl your sites withoutsession IDs or arguments that track their paththrough the site. These techniques are useful fortracking individual user behavior, but the accesspattern of bots is entirely different. Using thesetechniques may result in incomplete indexing ofyour site, as bots may not be able to eliminateURLs that look different but actually point to thesame page.Make sure your web server supports the If-Modified-Since HTTP header. This feature allowsyour web server to tell Google whether yourcontent has changed since we last crawled yoursite. Supporting this feature saves you bandwidthand overhead.
  4. 4. Make use of the robots.txt file on your web server. This file tells crawlers which directories can orcannot be crawled. Make sure it’s current for yoursite so that you don’t accidentally block theGooglebot crawler.Visit http://code.google.com/web/controlcrawlindex/docs/faq.html to learn how to instruct robotswhen they visit your site. You can test yourrobots.txt file to make sure you’re using itcorrectly with the robots.txt analysis tool availablein Google Webmaster Tools.
  5. 5. Make reasonable efforts to ensure that advertisements do notaffect search engine rankings. For example, Google’s AdSenseads and DoubleClick links are blocked from being crawled bya robots.txt file.If your company buys a content management system, makesure that the system creates pages and links that searchengines can crawl.Use robots.txt to prevent crawling of search results pages orother auto-generated pages that don’t add much value forusers coming from search engines.Test your site to make sure that it appears correctly indifferent browsers.
  6. 6. Monitor your site’s performance and optimize load times.Google’s goal is to provide users with the most relevant resultsand a great user experience. Fast sites increase usersatisfaction and improve the overall quality of the web(especially for those users with slow Internet connections), andwe hope that as webmasters improve their sites, the overallspeed of the web will improve.Google strongly recommendsthat all webmasters regularly monitor site performanceusing Page Speed, YSlow, WebPagetest, or other tools. For moreinformation, tools, and resources, see Let’s Make The WebFaster. In addition, the Site Performance tool in WebmasterTools shows the speed of your website as experienced by usersaround the world.
