Joseph Ebuya KEN/1987 debut
Joseph will be making his marathon debut in Mumbai. He enjoyed a good career on the track
(running 12:51 for 5000m and representing Kenya at the 2009 World Championships) but really came
to prominence over cross-country. He finished 4th
at the World Championships in 2008 before being
crowned the World Champion in 2010. Subsequently he won many of Europe’s major cross-country
races. He has also given glimpses of his potential on the road, an example of which was when he
won the Great South Run in 2010 setting the still standing course record of 45:16 for 10 miles. The
past two seasons have seen him struggle to find consistency in his performances but on his day he
can still be world class as shown when he won the San Sebastian Cross-Country by 1 minute in 2014.
Joseph is a fierce competitor and should not be underestimated.

times.
