THE POVERTY
INTRODUCTION
is characterized as the lack of access of its citizens to basic human needs such as nutrition, clean
water, and shelter; it extends to the overall infrastructure of its society to include education, health
care, social security, quality and basic services in the household, income and social cohesion as
defined by social development laws in the country
SOURCE
Poverty is not lack of money but lack of ability to work to earn it . If an individual does not do
something useful for society, this is not going to compensate, then poverty is because people do not
know how to do useful things, the less useful you are, the less will be your remuneration, whether
working for someone or as entrepreneur.
The causes of poverty are inhuman social organization, which contains contradictions between the
way society produces and the way it distributes. This allows a smaller number of individuals to
appropriate huge resources generated by the whole community, and prevent access to most part you
would be in justice. While 850 million people go hungry in the extreme, with suffering, disease and
premature death.
STATISTICS
The problem is enormous. According to figures from the United Nations Development Programm,
UNDP, 20% of the world's population holds 90% of the wealth, while 80% has to settle with the
remaining 10%, 2,800 million people, close to the half the world's population, live on less than $ 2 a
day, which is insufficient to meet basic needs, more than 1,000 million lack access to safe water,
876 million adults are illiterate, two thirds of which are women, more than 500,000 women die each
year during pregnancy or childbirth, lack of access to medical care-health care, and every day,
30,000 children under 5 die of diseases that could have been avoided. The 2008 data on poverty in
Mexico revealed that 50.6 million Mexicans were insufficient income to meet basic needs regarding
health, education, food, shelter, clothing or public transport, even devoting all its resources to these
terms. The 18.2% of the population suffered food shortages-almost-twenty million, of whom 7.2
million lived in urban areas, while 12.2 million were from rural areas. Between 2006 and 2008, the
standard of living of more than one million families fell below the poverty threshold. If we talk
about global poverty data, it is necessary to note that in Mexico a large part of the population is
young. In 2007 the number of population aged 0 to 17 years exceeded 38 million.
DEVELOPMENT
In Mexico, poverty, linked to ignorance, is a reality all as citizens every day.
In our country more than 70% of the population is poor and 80% of that live in extreme poverty.
Many may be to blame for this situation, the government, multinational corporations, explotative
employers and the lack of jobs, so it is certain that no one takes responsibility while we the people
suffer the consequences.
