The creation of The Alimentaria Hub
The Alimentaria Hub will be the headquarters for the interconnection among innovation, knowledge and trends for the food and
drinks industry and its agents. This is a core initiative which will gather together activities with a long history at Alimentaria which
already share values such as R&D&I, business development, sustainability and others. These include the International Conference
on the Mediterranean Diet, Innoval, Best Pack, the Research and Technology Transfer Conference, the FIAB (Spanish
acronym for the Spanish Food and Drink Industry Federation) business conferences, and the university research presented
by the Triptolemos Foundation, among others. The Alimentaria Hub will group all of these initiatives under one single umbrella,
augmenting their synergies and common elements.
The International Projects
Alimentaria is precisely the right partner and the best possible promotional venue for growth in these areas and becomes a
promotional venue for participating companies and a major international business centre. Alimentaria invites close to 200 key buyers
from the large-scale retail trade and purchasing networks around the world and there will be more than 8,000 business meetings
for food and beverage manufacturers and distributors from around the world: Latin America, Asia, United States and Canada, Central
and Eastern Europe, Western Europe and the Middle East.
Another event planned for Alimentaria is the Food & Drink Business Meetings, organised in collaboration with FIAB (Spanish
acronym for the Spanish Food and Drink Industry Federation), ICEX (Spanish acronym for the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade),
MARM (Ministry of the Natural, Rural and Marine Environment) and Alimentaria.
Global promotion
Alimentaria will once again feature delegations from all over the world. Highlights among the institutional stands include Italy,
France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, Poland, Ukraine, Turkey,
Cyprus, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, and the United States. In terms of companies, Alimentaria will include exhibitors from
Ireland, Russia, Morocco, Uruguay, Brazil, Serbia, Hungary, Moldavia, and other countries.
Alimentaria would increase investment in international promotion by 30%, renewing internationalisation agreements with FIAB
(Spanish acronym for the Spanish Food and Drink Industry Federation), increasing advertising investment in international media
outlets, organising practical seminars on international markets such as Russia and China, and strengthening programmes such as
Hosted Buyers.
Alimentaria has institutional and business relationships with more than 150 countries, a clear example of the trade fair's international
focus. The number of international agents has risen from 4 (in 1998) to 27 (in 2012).
