Prevent Acne Breakouts With Healthy Habits


Those who deal with adult acne daily know that you have to be extremely careful with what
you put on your skin and in your body so as to prevent breakouts as much as humanly
possible. Even simple changes in routine can cause problematic skin to freak out and erupt.
Here are some natural, healthy ways to prevent and reduce breakouts and get clear skin
once and for all.


On Your Skin
1) Keep your hands away from your face. Your hands touch a lot of things throughout the
day, and when you touch your face, it’s easy for dirt and bacteria to set up camp on your
skin.


2) Only use non-comedogenic acne skin care products and makeup. Non-comedogenic
means that the product will not clog your pores, and you should look for this label on
everything from your facial cleanser to your anti aging skin care products. When looking for
foundation, ensure you choose a water-based product instead of an oil-based one.


3) Fully remove your makeup at the end of every day. Even if you only wear non-
comedogenic makeup, leaving your makeup on overnight can be irritating to your skin and
doesn’t give it time to heal or breathe. Get some face wash and give your face a quick scrub
at the end of the day.




In Your Body
Different dermatologists believe different things about whether or not the foods you
consume have an effect on your skin, but if you seek a smoother complexion, changing your
dietary habits is worth a try. It makes sense that if you put good things into your body, your
body will do good things in return.


1) Reduce your chocolate consumption. Chocolate contains a lot of oil and sugar, neither of
which are great for your complexion or your body. In addition, a lot of chocolates contain
milk, and some believe that fatty dairy products can increase the risk of blemishes.


2) Cut back on oil. A lot of the foods we eat are cooked in oil, or just contain a lot of grease.
Most fried foods are cooked in oil; and when was the last time you bought a pizza that
didn’t need the oil to be blotted off the top? Many times, eating greasy foods causes skin to
feel slick afterwards; you’ll never experience this when eating lean proteins and veggies. (If
you must cook your food in oil, olive oil is the better option.)




3) Up your water intake. Water helps to flush toxins out of your system, and it also keep
skin hydrated so it doesn’t need to produce excess oil. Aim for eight glasses per day.


If you take advantage of all these options and still have a hard time getting rid of acne,
consult your dermatologist; you may need a medicated topical gel or other acne treatment
to help with healing acne.
