1. What kind of media institution
might distribute your media product
and why?
2. British film industry
The British film industry gets funds from the
Lottery. This supports film makers of completely
different diversities so that they can discover the
next best thing in the film industry. They support
film makers from companies to single workers to
ensure that talent is not hidden and that the UK
can have british films to look forward to. They
also do anything from development to
distribution to production. It helps the british
film makers stay competitive on a global stage.
3. Independent film industries
It is a professional film industry which is
competing out of the major film industries on a
film. My film is going to be a low budget film so
therefore can be funded by an independent film
industry. Well known independent film
industries are those like Warp who have
produced some very well known films over time.
I feel they will be the best sort of company to
distribute my film.
4. Distribution over social networking
sites
Due to the cost of advertisement lots of films
tend to be advertised over social networking
sites such as Twitter and Facebook, the majority
of the population of this country have either one
of them so this means that it can be sent around
the country quickly. This can also lead to going
global as many citizens have access to social
networking sites. Due to the low budget my film
has I think this will be the best way to advertise
it.
5. Walt Disney
Walt Disney is one of the biggest industries in the world, not only as a
film industry but also as many other industries in the media business.
With it owning a soundtrack company, tourist destinations, 3D and 2D
animation pictures filming companies, TV channels, radio stations and
many more it is a superior media business. In the film industry they
have done films such as 1937 Snow white and the 7 dwarfs which was
produced by Walt Disney and released by RKO Radio Pictures. The film
had international earnings of $8 million which at the time was a huge
amount. In the process of producing the film Walt Disney had to
mortgage his house to help finance the films proction which eventually
came up to a total cost of $1,488,422.74.
A Walt Disney film of the modern day would be The Avengers. The
Avengers was produced by Marvel studios and distributed by Walt
Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is based upon the Mavel studio
comics, which are comics about superheroes. It was released on the
11th of April 2012 (hollywood premiere) but in USA it was released on
the 4th of May 2012. Its budget was $220 million. The box office was
$1,511,757,910 .
6. Warp
They are a digital film company which was
founded in 1989 in Sheffield. From the year
2000 to the present it has been based in
London. It has done films like Four Lions
which has been a big film through out the
UK. It is a British dark comedy, funding was
secured in October 2008 from Film 4
productions and Warp Films. It was only
initially released at 115 screen it did
reasonably well on its opening weekend
making a total of £609,000. As of the 8th of
August 2010, Four Lions had grossed
£2,932,366 at the UK box office. It was
released on the 7th of May 2010.
7. My film will be produced, distributed and
developed by an independent film industry. This
is because my film is a low budget film and will
not need large amounts of advertisement due to
it being advertised over social networking sites
which are a big hit in todays advertising
business.
