NeuroTracker Benefits Accelerated Visual Processing Speed – the process of (1) vision (2) perception (3) cognition (4) action is repeated hundreds of thousands of times per game. We can’t speed up how fast the information gets from your eye to your brain – it happens at the speed of light anyway – but we can speed up your brain’s processing of the visual information it receives. If you process information faster, would you agree that you have more time to make a good decision? We know that decisions take about 1/100 of a second, which is an extremely small amount of time. Over the course of a 60-90 minute game – where split second decisions are the difference between winning and losing, those 1/100 of a second add up in a big way. Increased Peripheral Awareness –greater awareness of one’s surroundings on the field means better perception of big-play opportunities. It also means better perception of injury threats. Many injuries occur because the athlete is unaware an impact is coming. Some collisions are unavoidable, but we are interested in the injuries that could be prevented with better awareness. Concussion RTP timing – NeuroTracker baselines are a running measure of perceptual-cognitive skill. This skill is known to be massively disrupted by the effects of a concussion. Doctors use many indicators when deciding when an athlete is ready to return to play, and NT becomes a valuable indicator in the doctor’s arsenal. Profiling – we know from experience that some players have all the physical tools necessary to succeed in a sport and yet they struggle. We know of players who don’t look the part and yet they consistently perform. NeuroTracker helps us learn more about our own athletes and our prospects. Those athletes with great pedigree and low initial NT scores are great athletes to target because they are likely to reap huge benefits from the training, whereas someone who already has excellent MOT skills will still improve (but likely that is not the thing lacking in his game)
Athletic Performance Validations CogniSens is working with teams from the NHL, NFL and the English Premier League as well as US special forces and NCAA college teams to validate NeuroTracker for elite athletic performance. NeuroTracker was also specially requested by a prominent NFL team to be used at the 2012 NFL Combine to scout potential recruits. Scientific Validation CogniSens products and technologies are based on 20 years of patented research at the Visual Psychophysics and Perception Laboratory at the University of Montreal. The University and its laboratory have a continuing interest in the success and scientific progress of CogniSens technologies, and provide ongoing scientific support. The 30-strong team of researchers continues to publish product-related papers and provide scientific support and validation. Such is the solid science grounding of NeuroTracker that altogether we have had collaborations with 24 centers, ranging through sports, medical and educational applications in several North American and European countries.
