Short film survey analysis

 This Survey is a part of my A2 Media Studies
coursework primary research.
 The main purpose of this task was to create a
potential target audience profile so that I can create
a film which is appealing to them.
 In order for it to be successful, I have asked 10
people to answer my survey questions to find out,
what each one of them believe about short films
and what they prefer.
 I have used Survey monkey, this is a survey
provider site used by many people to carry out a
detailed research.
Through this question I
have realized the People
between age 15-20 and 21-
30 are the ones who would
actually watch a short film.
Having this in mind, I must
make sure that my short
film will be appealing to
these 2 age groups.
Based on my research, I am
very glad that everyone from
my potential target audience
knows what a short film is. This
means that they have already
watched, heard about some
before or even prepared one.
Based on my survey, I was really
glad to see that the people that I
have asked all enjoy watching
films, this makes it easier for me,
as I know that my short film will
be pleasing to them for sure.
As for this question, it was
essential for me to know what
the audience believes. Now
that I know that the majority
voted for 3-5 min long short
films, I will be certain not go
too much above the preferred
time.
In this question, we can see that
70% of the people said that
Message- meaning is most
essential for the production of a
short film. This is one of the most
important part, even in my
opinion of why to make a short
film.
This particular question is really
crucial as it defines the specific
genre, which my potential
target audience love to watch.
In my case Drama, Sport and
Thriller were all at the same
%which means, that I would
have to make a film that has one
of these Genres to make it
attractive to my audiences.
Based on my survey results on
age groups, I'm not surprised
that the majority of the people
watch short films on Social
Media websites. At this age
group of 15-20 and 21-30 we
spend a lot of time surfing on
the internet, reading news and
watching films.
Storyline makes the films the
most eye-catching. Every
film needs a good narrative
that grabs the attention of the
audiences, and that what my
target audience has chosen
as the most important factor
for a short film production.
Internet became a part of our
life. We use it for everything,
watching films, reading,
working, for entertainment.
My target audience that are
over 40% are between the
age 15-20 which means that
they live for the internet. As
my target audience are well
educated they will use
different social media
platforms.
As we can see from this
survey, my target audience
has a really good potential
ideas for other short film
productions. It also very
important to note, that they
all have different and very
useful ideas for upcoming
short films.
 Once I have completed my survey research, I was able to establish my
potential target audience that would be attracted to watch my short film
and what type of methods and strategies I should use to make it a
success.
 Using these information I will produce a in depth audience profile,
looking at their needs and what they want.
 As we can see from the results, my target audience would be interested in
upcoming short films, based on their length and Genre.
