6. What type of learning background do
the learners have?
What are the objectives of this class?
What learning materials and
resources are available?
Things need to consider while
teaching Grammar
7. Grammar tells us the "rules" of a language; but in
fact no language has rules. If we use the word
"rules", we suggest that somebody created the rules
first and then spoke the language, like a new game.
But languages did not start like that. Languages
started by people making sounds which evolved into
words, phrases and sentences. No commonly-
spoken language is fixed. All languages change over
time.
What we call "grammar" is simply a reflection of a
language at a particular time.
Grammar is the system of a language.
People think that . . .
8. Is Grammar necessary for
Children under the age of 5 to 10
years?
Even they are not able to
understand grammatical terms
and explanations about
language.

20. What are children like as learners?
• They:
• Learn in a variaty of ways, for example, by watching, by
listening, by imitating, by doing things
• Are not able to understand grammatical rules and explanations
about language
• Try to make sense of situations by making use of non-verbal
clues
21. • Can generally imitate the sounds they hear quite
accurately and copy the way adults speak
• Are naturally curious
• Love to play and use their imagination
• Are comfortable with routines and enjoy
repetition
• Have quite a short attention span and so need
variety
22. How can you as a teacher,
help them in learning quite
a new language?
23.
24. • Make English enjoyable and fun - remember
you are influencing their attitude to language
learning.
• Don’t worry about mistakes. Be encouraging.
Make sure children feel comfortable, and not
afraid to take part.
• Use a lot of gestures, actions, pictures to
demonstrate what you mean.
• Talk a lot to them in English, especially about
things they can see.
• Play games, sing songs, say rhymes and chants
together.
25. • Tell simple stories in English, using pictures
and acting with different voices.
• Constantly recycle new language but don’t be
afraid to add new things or to use words they
won’t know
• Plan lessons with varied activities, some quiet,
some noisy, some sitting, some standing and
moving
26. This is the biggest blank
in our education system.
Children feel boring and
difficulties while learning
a new language.
27.
