1. Just for you 〜 My dear friend! The Value of Life Background Music : Tibet Music
2. A man was strolling in the jungle, when he suddenly met a hungry tiger. The tiger growled loudly and tried to pounce on him. With fullest strength, he ran away as fast as he could. But the tiger followed him closely. He ran and ran and ran…. until he reached a steep cliff.
3. At the edge of the cliff , he thought : “ Instead of being caught, bitten and torn into pieces by the tiger, leaping down the cliff may offer a ray of hope. “ He leapt down the cliff, and luckily was caught by the branch of a plum tree growing on the cliff. The tree was full of ripe plums.
4. While he was feeling lucky, he heard a lion roaring at the bottom of the cliff. The lion was staring at him. The sound of the fierce lion made him shiver. But the following thought crossed his mind: “Lion and tiger are beasts; there is no difference if I am eaten by either one.“
5. After he settled his thought, he heard a strange noise. The noise was made by a white and a black rat which were biting the branch of the plum tree. He panicked for a while, but later calmed down when he thought that if he fell down and died when the branch was broken by the rats, it would have been better than being bitten to death by the lion.
6. When he calmed down, he felt a bit hungry. He plucked a few plums and relished the fruits. He felt he had never eaten such delicious plums. Then he rested on a fork of the branch. He thought: “Since it is a matter of time before I die, it is better for me to have a good sleep before dying.” And he went ahead to sleep deeply.
7. When he woke up, he found that the rats, the tiger and the lion had all disappeared. Cautiously, he climbed up the cliff and was pleased to be finally out of danger.
8. What happened was that when he was sleeping, the hungry tiger could not stand, growled and leapt down the cliff. The rats ran away upon hearing the loud noise made by the tiger. The tiger had a fierce fight with the lion at the bottom of the cliff. Both were wounded and ran away.
9. From the moment we are born, Suffering, like the hungry tiger, is chasing after us. Death, like the fierce lion, is waiting for us at the edge of the cliff. Day and night alternate, like the white and black rats, slowly but surely biting away the tree temporarily providing us with shelter. Eventually, we will end up being the lion’s meal.
10. Realising that the worst scenario of life is DEATH. The only path is: Have a pure heart, with less desire, more kindness; calmly enjoying the delicious fruits on the plum tree, and sleep comfortably.
11. One day, We will all become the subject of bad news for others. The Question: Have you sufficiently enjoyed every minute and second of your life?
