Nova entrepreneurship society

  1. 1. Objectives NOVA Entrepreneurship Society (NES) is a nonprofit organization, run by students and alumni of NOVA University of Lisbon. NES aims to be a platform for the creation of strong and sustainable Startups, by students and alumni of complimentary backgrounds. Started in 2010, and formalized in 2011, NES is headquartered in NOVA's Campolide Campus, where startups and the society have their permanent working quarters. Its main objectives are: – To promote entrepreneurship and networking between people of different backgrounds. – To promote and assist in the creation of Startups and Entrepreneurial Ventures – To support the growth and internationalization of the resulting Startups.

  3. 3. StartMeUp StartMeUp is NES' largest event, held yearly on Campus. It consists of a conference followed by investment rounds, in which many Startups perform their elevator pitch to a panel of investors, in front of a large audience. The audience votes to allocate their ticket money to their favorite Startups and (if they are sufficiently persuasive) a new relationship between the Startups and Investors is born. The panels consist of top level Angel Investors and Venture Capital firms. StartMeUp aims to help finance blossoming Startups, and also to involve the community in the birth of a new entrepreneurial venture, which we believe should be viewed as something to be celebrated by society at large. It also helps to clarify how Startups are financed, and what it takes to convince an early stage investor.
