NMC are admitted.
 The Medical students are unaware of the fact that
research is progressive and knowledge of the medical
disease, treatment and modalities keeps updated.

 In India funding is a big constrain, as most of the
universities cannot fund the ad-hoc research projects
undertaken by the UG medical students.
 The things are different now, where many universities are
allocating the budgets to research.
 Apart from this, apex bodies are also encouraging the
undergraduate medical research.

23. ICMR Short Term Studentship (STS)
 Indian Council of Medical Research Short-term Studentship (ICMR-
STS) is a very popular program among the medical students which
calls for application in January every year.
 This gives opportunity to work in interested research area
 Enables recipients to work on project for 2 months and another
month for preparing the report.
 After successful submission of report, they are entitled for certificate
and stipend upon approval (20000 INR)
