India.
Religions:
Main religions in India are Hinduism,
Islam, Sikhism, Christianity, Buddhism,
and Jainism,

Traditionally the family was responsible for the care of the
poor, incapacitated, elderly, and very young. For rural
populations this is still largely true. In recent decades,
underfunded state governments, often with international
help, have tried to create more jobs for the poor as a direct
way of helping them.
Food culture:
About half the people eat rice as their staple, while the
remainder subsist on wheat, barley, maize, and millet. There
are thus major geographic differences in diet. Just as
fundamental is the division between those who eat meat and
those who are vegetarian.

constitution. India is a federal parliamentary democratic
republic in which the President of India is head of state and
the Prime Minister of India is the head of government.
There are two types of political parties in India - National
Party and Regional/State party.

15. TRADE RELATION BETWEEN INDIA & SRI LANKA
India is Sri Lanka’s largest trading partner globally, while Sri Lanka is India’s second
largest trading partner in the SAARC.
It is the number one source of supplies accounting for 20% of Sri Lanka’s total
imports and 3rd largest export destination for Sri Lankan products till date.
Among tourists, Indian visitors make the largest single group having a share of 27%
of total arrivals. In the investment field, India is among the top five foreign investors
in Sri Lanka.
Trade between Sri Lanka and India has grown rapidly after the entry into force of the
Indo-Sri Lanka Free Trade Agreement in March 2000.
In average, over 70% of Sri Lanka’s exports to India continue to be under the
ISFTA, while India’s exports to Sri Lanka under the ISFTA remains only
around 25% (2013).
