In order to graduate, you must: <ul><li>Have 23 credits total. </li></ul><ul><li>Take four semesters (two years) of social studies. </li></ul><ul><li>Take and pass both semesters of American History as a junior. </li></ul><ul><li>Take and pass the Illinois State and Federal Constitution Tests in American History. </li></ul>

Do I Have to Take Social Studies as a Freshmen? <ul><li>No, but it is highly recommended. </li></ul><ul><li>If you are going to college, you should have three years (6 semesters) of social studies before your graduate. </li></ul><ul><li>If you struggle in social studies, you should take a class as a freshmen to keep up your skills. </li></ul>

If Social Studies Isn’t Your Best Subject: <ul><li>You can choose from the following classes: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Introduction to Social Studies (Includes one unit on various areas in social studies) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>World Cultures (Studies cultural, political, and physical structures of major countries) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Maps, Charts, and Our Planet (Includes a lot of geography and map work) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Practical Law (Studies basic concepts of law) </li></ul></ul>
  6. 6. Semester Classes: <ul><li>Each of the previous classes are only 1/2 year classes. </li></ul><ul><li>You can take any combination of those classes. </li></ul><ul><li>You can take only one class if you want, either first or second semester. </li></ul>

If You LOVE Social Studies and Get A’s and B’s: <ul><li>Choose from the following classes as a freshmen: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>World History (Ancient Times to 1350) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>First Semester Only </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>World History (Medieval to Early Modern Times 1350-1918) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Second Semester Only </li></ul></ul></ul>

Classroom Procedures Students are expected to: <ul><li>Have all materials (book, pen, pencil, paper, notebook, folder, and completed homework) upon entering the classroom. </li></ul><ul><li>Be in assigned seat ready to work when the bell rings. </li></ul><ul><li>Ask questions immediately if confused or struggling in class. </li></ul><ul><li>Sit quietly and do what is required. </li></ul>

You Will Succeed in Social Studies if: <ul><li>You continually practice your reading skills. </li></ul><ul><li>You complete your daily homework and assignments regularly. </li></ul><ul><li>You come in for help if you need it. </li></ul><ul><li>You study for tests and quizzes, and do your best on them. </li></ul>
