Who is this webinar for?
Project Managers – learn how to ensure your project deliverables will be
adopted by your users.
Programme Managers – use your knowledge of behavioural change to
guide your Project Managers so that every project within your programme is
adopted, which means the intended benefits will be realised.
PMO – the metrics and the criteria for project success have changed, and you
need to be reporting on business readiness as well as project delivery.
Business Analysts – you were analysing the requirements for the project
deliverables, now you need to consider all of the process changes to ensure the
business use what has been delivered.
Operations Managers – you need to lead the change effort for your team,
so you need to understand what needs to be done and plan and resource it
appropriately
Operations Staff – you need to devise new ways of working to keep pace
with the new products, services, tools, data and platforms that are being launched.

so everyone encouraged to try out ideas to find the right
one
• Increase in interconnectivity means one change can
generate lots of changes - intended and unintended

• Ensure the business are aware of all the changes they
need to make.
• Encourage and inspire the business to participate in
the creation of these new ways of working.
• Measure the adoption of new ways of working and
maintain momentum for continuous change.
• Find what matters to people
• Link the change to what matters
• Show interest – listen, ask questions
• Help people imagine the change – make it real
through:
• Scenarios
• Walk throughs
• Demonstrations
• Be authentic, use the feedback you are given to
create a one team culture.

  • 5. Who is this webinar for? Project Managers – learn how to ensure your project deliverables will be adopted by your users. Programme Managers – use your knowledge of behavioural change to guide your Project Managers so that every project within your programme is adopted, which means the intended benefits will be realised. PMO – the metrics and the criteria for project success have changed, and you need to be reporting on business readiness as well as project delivery. Business Analysts – you were analysing the requirements for the project deliverables, now you need to consider all of the process changes to ensure the business use what has been delivered. Operations Managers – you need to lead the change effort for your team, so you need to understand what needs to be done and plan and resource it appropriately Operations Staff – you need to devise new ways of working to keep pace with the new products, services, tools, data and platforms that are being launched.

Why change management has become so important? • Customers encouraged to demand more via easier engagement with organisations via social media platforms • Staff encouraged to be innovative and creative and identify new ways of working • Complexity has reduced certainty and obvious right answer so everyone encouraged to try out ideas to find the right one • Increase in interconnectivity means one change can generate lots of changes - intended and unintended consequences

Naïve Well informed Sophisticated Project management with a people focus A framework for helping the organisation adopt new ways of working A structured approach to making change Getting teams to embrace uncertainty. A capability for embedding continuous change in the business The activities needed to realise the benefits from project investments. More communications than we normally send during a project.
  • 9. Change management is NOT project management
  • 10. 10 What is the challenge? • Ensure the business are aware of all the changes they need to make. • Encourage and inspire the business to participate in the creation of these new ways of working. • Measure the adoption of new ways of working and maintain momentum for continuous change.
  • 11. • Find what matters to people • Link the change to what matters • Show interest – listen, ask questions • Help people imagine the change – make it real through: • Scenarios • Walk throughs • Demonstrations • Be authentic, use the feedback you are given to create a one team culture. • How do we manage change?
  • 12. How do we manage change? Angry and upset about having to change. Not convinced but willing to try new things. Accepts the new ways of working, forgets how things used to be done.
  • 13. Create a ‘pull’ environment • Take the change to people • Describe the change in ways that make them want it to happen • Give them choices in the way they engage with the change
  • 14. Skills – all from emotional intelligence • Listening • Empathising • Caring • More listening! • Diplomacy • Choosing your words carefully • Remaining enthusiastic in the face of resistance • Resilience and the ability to keep going when things go wrong.
