The document describes an ongoing project at the Libyan Academy to build a digital library of electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs) using the open source Greenstone system. The researchers developed a metadata schema for theses and dissertations and addressed issues related to designing, developing and testing the system. Preliminary conclusions highlighted lessons learned from the project so far.

The document discusses utilizing cooperative learning strategies for graduate IT studies. It describes using project-based learning approaches where students work in small groups on projects. The strategy aims to increase student engagement and improve the learning process. Students gain benefits like interpreting information from different sources and developing research and presentation skills. The success of implementing cooperative learning groups in IT courses at a Libyan graduate academy encouraged expanding the approach to additional courses.
UTILIZING COOPERATIVE LEARNING FOR IT GRADUATE STUDIESarteimi
This document discusses cooperative learning and its benefits. It defines cooperative learning, clarifies how it differs from other learning approaches, and outlines its key characteristics and elements. The document then provides a case study of cooperative learning being used successfully in two courses at the Libyan Academy of Graduate Studies. It discusses how emotional intelligence relates to cooperative learning and concludes that essential factors for success include teamwork, well-defined projects, monitoring, time management, and emotional intelligence.
rule refinement in inductive knowledge based systemsarteimi
This document summarizes a paper about refining inductive knowledge-based systems through empirical methods. It describes a system called ARIS that interleaves learning and performance evaluation to allow accurate classifications on real-world datasets. ARIS employs an ordering of rules according to their learned weights, which are calculated using Bayes' theorem. The system focuses rule analysis and refinement by heuristics. It has been used to refine knowledge bases from C4.5 and RIPPER, showing improved accuracy and the ability to gradually enhance the knowledge base during refinement.
The document discusses part-of-speech tagging of Arabic text. It applies the Brill tagger, a machine learning tagger originally designed for English, to tag Modern Standard Arabic text. The author modifies the Brill tagger and a version of the Khoja tagset to tag an Arabic corpus obtained from Jordanian magazines. Rules are produced to tag words based on their lexical structure and context. The tagging accuracy is approximately 84% for known and unknown words, which is considered promising given the complexity of Arabic.
This document discusses the background and objectives of utilizing learning styles for effective web-based learning systems. It provides context on the evolution of learning and computers, including computer-based instruction, online learning, and the role of the internet in education. It outlines some advantages and challenges of web-based learning systems, including the ability to create learning communities but also new barriers to access. The document introduces the concept of learning styles and their importance in education. The key objectives of the research are to present a model of web-based learning that adopts individual learning styles and to examine the influence of different learning models on students with varying styles.

This document proposes a data compression technique using double transforms. It compares using the Walsh-Hadamard Transform (WHT), Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT), and a proposed Walsh-Cosine double transform on several contour data sets. The double transform approach applies the WHT, selects some spectral components, converts the spectrum to the DCT domain, and applies the inverse DCT. Experimental results show the double transform reduces multiplication operations compared to DCT alone while maintaining reconstruction error.
The document discusses utilizing learning styles for effective web-based learning. It presents a model for a web-based course in visual programming that adopts two learning models (4MAT system and PBL system) to accommodate different learning styles. Students were divided into groups for each model and assessed with pre-and post-tests. Preliminary results found no significant differences in achievement between learning styles, but the PBL group scored higher than the 4MAT group. The research aims to determine the most effective way to design online courses that enhance the learning process based on individual learning styles.
The document discusses using the Brill part-of-speech tagger for tagging Modern Standard Arabic text. It describes modifications made to the tagset and start state tagger used by the Brill system to better handle the morphological complexity of Arabic. An initial corpus was tagged, revised, and used to train the tagger, achieving an accuracy of 73-83% based on the tagset. The goal is to develop a well-performing tagger and tagged corpus to support natural language processing for Arabic.

LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like
Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems

Changes in vegetation cover refer to variations in the distribution, composition, and overall
structure of plant communities across different temporal and spatial scales. These changes can
occur natural.
