2. For my double page spread, I wanted all my backgrounds to be removed as this is for
all of my images and I wanted a crisp white background theme to be continuous in my
magazine. I removed the background by using the quick selection tool and
occasionally when it went too much in, I used the alt key to bring the line back out to
the body and then deleted the background. I did this especially for this as I wanted to
add a colourful background to keep with my colour scheme.
3. To add the background I added shapes and I added two circle shapes and added a
colour overlay. The colour overlay I matched to my colour scheme by using the
selection tool. This effect made it more vibrant on the page and makes it stand out.
4. I added that image to my double page spread, which was
made in InDesign, I put it so that the text wrapped around
the image and this broke the text down and added a
visual effect. I also added a speech bubble in photoshop
and added text so it seems like she is speaking directly to
the audience and the pose also shows the feelings and
the story of the article. I also added a small stroke in order
to make sure the layers were differentiated.
5. After I removed the background, I changed the
background colour in photoshop to match my colour
scheme, and also did this by using the selection tool when
choosing a colour overlay. The difference between the
before and after picture shows how much difference it
makes by removing the background and how it makes the
image look more professional.
6. I also did this on this image, and
the background I made blue by
adding a rectangle shape and
putting a colour overlay of the
same colour blue that I have
used throughout. I also cropped
the background of this image by
using the quick selection tool,
inversing the layer and then
deleting the background. I then
went over with the lasso tool to
clean up edges.

8. To make the double page spread, I added the text first by placing it in from a
word document, after making the three different sections to make it look like
an article, then I added the dropcap and did the pull quote before adding
images. On the right page where my big image was, I had to make sure the
text did not cover the image by putting it either side of the image.
9. I also added small shapes to give a more girly theme and to also fill some
dead space, and I tried to have as least dead space as possible. I made them
different colours and then placed them into InDesign. I then moved them
around to fit nicely on the large image and around the text. I also made the
shapes the same colour as my colour scheme.
