Background
 Gold Fin international LLC is a manufacturer,
processor and exporter of fish meal and fish oil
 Currently Gold Fin has two plants in Oman – one in
Jalan, and the other in Duqm

Challenges
 The plant located in Jalan is involved in the cooking of raw fish at a high temperature
(90°C). The required heat is supplied by pressurised steam generated from boilers
 With an ambient temperature in the range of 40°C, the addition of the heat generated by
various cooking and packaging processes, caused the temperature in the plant area to go
as high as 50°C which resulted in very uncomfortable working conditions for workers in
the plant
 As a result, the management of Gold Fin decided to install a cooling system to provide
much needed relief to its workers

Solution
This resulted in a very uncomfortable working condition for the team working in the
plant. The high temperatures also caused a loss of productivity and a dip in the
workers' morale.
As a result, the management of Gold Fin decided to install a cooling system to provide
much needed relief to its workers.
 Gold Fin approached HMX for an air cooling solution for
their Jalan plant
 After a study of the plant and the ambient conditions,
HMX proposed a 15,000 CFM HMX-Ambiator (Indirect
Direct Evaporative Cooling)
 The unit capacity was calculated to be adequate enough
to counter the issue of human discomfort on account of
high temperatures and lack of ventilation
 The machine was subsequently installed and
successfully commissioned

Result – a happy workforce and customer!
 The installed HMX unit supplies air at a temperature of
20.5°C during summer
 The indoor temperature in the plant is maintained at a
comfortable 25°C, in spite of the heat generated by the
various production processes. Gold Fin is very happy with
the performance of the HMX-Ambiator units
