1. 1. Technology Integration By: Audrey Collier
 2. 2. Objective:

First Grade Standard #3: Students will develop an understanding of their environment.

Students will learn about hot air balloons and what keeps them in the air.

 3. 3.

To introduce the lesson I had a PowerPoint of different hot air balloons. I wanted to peek their interest and show them many different hot air balloons. We used a LCD projector to project it onto the TV screen.

Introduction:
 4. 4.

After reading the book about hot air balloons and talking about hot air, the children made their own hot air balloons. I had the students take pictures of their balloons. After each picture had been taken, I made a PowerPoint using their pictures so they could see their own work on the TV screen.

Conclusion:
 5. 5. Student Use Of Technology

Technology was used by both students and teacher.

PowerPoint was visible for all students.

Students used a camera to take a picture of their own hot air balloon.

Students were able to see their artwork on the TV screen by viewing a PowerPoint.

 6. 6. Technology Use Is Essential

The PowerPoint at the beginning of the lesson was used to motivate the children, but it was essential to show the images in a way that all the children could see them.

The camera at the end of the lesson was necessary to the follow up of the activity.

The PowerPoint showing their artwork was also crucial to the follow up.

 7. 7. Focus On Learning Task

The PowerPoint in this lesson was used to help the students focus on hot air balloons and hot air. It was used to show them examples of what we would be reading about.

The students did need to do much to learn how to use the camera.

 8. 8. Added Value

Using the PowerPoint at the beginning of the lesson made it possible for all the students to view images of hot air balloons all at the same time.

Showing the images to ALL of the students at the same time would have been nearly impossible with out the PowerPoint.

I was able to walk around and talk as I was showing them the PowerPoint.

 9. 9. Reflection

What went well?

The students really enjoyed seeing all of the different hot air balloons. This helped activate background knowledge.

They got really excited about taking the pictures.

They were proud to see their hard work on the TV screen.

What could be improved?

I needed a little more time to get through the lesson. Some of the students were rushed with their balloons and taking their pictures.

I would have more slides of hot air balloons because they really liked seeing the variety.
