  1. 1. “I find sports as an easy tool to start communication with any individual or associated with a group whom I may or may not know. Sports talk can act as an easy ice breaker. The Recently concluded world cup soccer in Brazil was a hot talking point wherever I went, either at work or in public. Sport is an interesting, entertaining and very useful team bonding tool. We can easily make friends with same liking in sports. It integrates nations, connects people and creates a peaceful and friendly environment, which is truly needed in the current global world“
  2. 2. “Even when you've played the game of your life, it's the feeling of teamwork that you'll remember. You'll forget the plays, the shots, and the scores, but you'll never forget your teammates.” - Deborah Miller Palmore-Basketball Olympian How Sports benefit Accountability Health Leadership Communication Teamwork Relives Stress Self- Confidence Sportsmanship & Competitiveness
  3. 3. Sports play a significant role as a promoter of social integration and economic development in different geographical, cultural and political contexts. Sports is a powerful tool to strengthen social ties and networks, and to promote ideals of peace, fraternity, solidarity, non-violence, tolerance and justice along. In 1978, UNESCO described sport and physical education as a “fundamental right for all”. Promoting sports by any nation tend to increase employment and economy growth. “ In a development context the definition of sport usually includes a broad and inclusive spectrum of activities suitable to people of all ages and abilities, with an emphasis on the positive values of sport. In 2003, the UN Inter-Agency Task Force on Sport for Development and Peace defined sport, for the purposes of development, as “all forms of physical activity that contribute to physical fitness, mental well-being and social interaction, such as play, recreation, organized or competitive sport, and indigenous sports and games.” This definition has since then been accepted by many proponents of Sport for Development and Peace.”
  4. 4. Sports make a significant contribution to our wellbeing, playing a role in the development of the economy, environment and society. Tackling Social Exclusion - participating in sporting activities increases people's sense of integration into their local community in both urban and rural areas. Sports keep people engaged and reduces the chances of young people slipping into lives of crime. There is a reduced risk of a person re-offending if he can be encouraged to participate in sport. People tends to be more competitive in nature and open minded in attitude. “ I firmly believe in the same principle. After living in Singapore for some time, I can easily interact with the local citizens either in the Tennis Court , football game, badminton court or while playing bowling. Recently, Deutsche Bank organized a fund raising event ,“Run For life” and I got the chance to mingle & socialize with many locals . It was a wonderful learning experience overall. “
  5. 5. Corporate Social Responsibility and Social Mobilization Sport has a unique power to attract, mobilize and inspire. By its very nature, sport is about participation. Sport is used in an extremely wide range of situations by corporate – whether as an integrated tool in short-term emergency humanitarian aid activities, or in long-term development cooperation projects, on a local, regional or global scale. By appointing celebrity athletes as ‘Ambassadors’ or ‘Spokespersons’ and leveraging the potential of sports events as outreach platforms , The mobilizing power of sport is often used as a “door-opener” to convey crucial messages in global society about HIV/AIDS, child’s rights, the environment, education, etc or conduct Fundraising events to aid needed country , groups, forum or individual. “Last year, I was part of team building playground for kids in remote village in Japan and this year I will participate events to build and install bio-sand water filters for disadvantaged rural families and lend helping hand for children in Angkor hospital, Cambodia. Being Part of Corporate Social responsibilities events gives me immense feeling to be part of global world, being responsible to Nation, Society and community in broad spectrum. It Instills value of social responsibility , the importance of community welfare, and the spirit of self-empowerment. Being part of such activities also add sense of leadership. I actively participate in such events mostly sponsored by organization. “
