Standardisation is a short-term pain, long-term gain.
It will answer a lot of ‘How can I…’ type questions:
• Re-use data in multiple applications?
• Ensure the data I collect today is useful tomorrow?
• Avoid getting locked into a solution?
• Be sure I can extract my data?
• Cut costs, future-proof

Can I do all this without xAPI?
Probably
But you’ll be re-inventing the wheel each time you do.
Re-usable, standardised parts are what allow industries to
grow.
You will probably be faced with a choice of doing it xAPI
or doing it cheap. Ironically, xAPI will probably be cheaper
in the long run.
