4. SCRIPT STRUCTURE
• It may be easier to approach the writing of
your script by turning your statement into a
question – and then approaching it as an
essay
• BUT… In no way should your presentation
read like an essay
5. SCRIPT STRUCTURE
• INTRODUCTION
• Part 1: Aims of your presentation – set up your argument/case (Why did
you choose the topic/issue? Why do you find it interesting?) Try you
reference research material
• Part 2: What is your focus film? Why? What are your additional films? Why?
(The ‘why’ make sure to link it back to the usefulness these film have to
your research title and/ or how you came across them)
• Part 3: What you intend to cover in the presentation
• MAIN SECTION
• Part 4: Present your argument/ case – referring to clips of films, primary
and secondary research to back up your points. Discuss unexpected/
expected directions your research took you on.
• CONCLUSION
• Part 5: What conclusions have you come to? What have found interesting
about researching your topic? If you have drawn no conclusions (a solid
answer) why not?
6. WHAT YOU NEED TO DO NOW
• Ensure that you are able to break down your
statement/ question into ‘chunks’ bite sized
pieces (key ideas) that can be address through
your presentation serve as the structure
• You should have already done this but, due to
added research you should be able to amend
and improve
7. WHAT YOU NEED TO DO NOW
• Log your research using pages 14 - 17 of the booklet to
help you – you need to assess how useful the
information you have gathers is. Has it enhanced your
research? How?
• After doing this you should be able to start categorising
the research you have e.g. journals, internet, magazines
etc.
• Ensure you do the task at the bottom of pg15
• What deselected material do you have – why was it of no
use remember this contributes to your mark
• You should now be able to asses if you need to go back
to the BFI
8. WHAT YOU NEED TO DO NOW
• Start constructing your Presentation Script use
pages 18-20 of the booklet to help you
• Also refer to the example scripts and
annotated catalogues for some assistance
9. PRESENTATION: MONDAY 21ST JAN
• Explain how you intend to break down your
investigation
• Why is your focus film so significant to the investigation
• To what extent has your secondary research been
useful/informative/insightful? – share quotes
• What primary research have you conducted and how
has this contributed to overall investigation? – share
quotes
• To share with Mrs Raji – a list of possible film clips you
want to show and why. A plan of how you will make
your presentation interesting!
