Now we are in the year of 90AD and John lives in the Roman Empire. God reveals to John that beginning from the kingdom that he is in now, what has happened so far, what is going on right now and what will happen. We have seen that Daniel had already shown 3 of them: Greece, Persia and the Babylon. That is still 2 short- but if you are a student of history you know that before Babylon ruled Assyria ruled Israel. There is one more before that – Egypt. So that is 5 that are gone and 1 that is. The Internet, TV and movies has enabled the spread of pornography and filth and is now becoming more rampant and accepted.

The key here is that Jesus said that these would be the beginnings of “birth pangs.” In other words these events would increase in frequency and intensity as the time got closer to His coming. We know that we have gone from wars to world wars. Man has the capability of annihilating himself many times over. The weather is changing and mega-storms are increasing. Diseases such as AIDS, Ebola, bird flu and the H1N1 pandemic are spreading.

34. 6. The Bible also predicts that a world power will arise in the last days which will be the revived Roman Empire. For several thousand years Rome has been fragmented into man nation’s states. Yet in the mid 90’s, the EU was formed with its new currency called the Euro . In Daniel 2 we see Nebuchadnezzar’s image that shows the final kingdom that will arise in the last days. It is described as the 10 toes of the image mixed with iron and clay. The Roman Empire was represented by iron. The final kingdom is iron and clay.
