Alicia Keys does it in the beginning of fallin when she says ‘in’.
Christina Aguilera also does it in a lot of her songs.
What is this aspect called?

Melisma – for the best example of it really you should listen to Kim Burrell or most Gospel
Singers do it well – Marvin Sapp or Boyz II Men (Wanya in particular) Beyonce has a great one
too but she doesnt use it as much as she in her DC days.
Christina’s ios great – Jojo’s is brilliant. Chrissy A can overuse it at times – and proves how its
can be difficult in the right key when you perform it LIVE and quite often .Using that style its best
not to over employ the technique as the special quality of it is lost on its audience.
Its also something that can’t really be taught through vocal coaching for example. Your voice
will allow you to go there and embellish the notes if its able- but the over-use or
misappropriation of it can be flagrant. For a restrained usage someone like Mariah Carey is a

library so that proves it I know everything.

I believe that all mainstream rap is awful but the one who takes the cake (even though i’ll be
hated by ignorant people) is Lil’ Wayne he possesses no talent in rhyming. If you repeat a word
back to back it doesn’t rhyme because it’s the same word. Mainstream rappers have no
uniqueness they all sound the same and say the same thing. Listen to rappers with real talent
like R.A the Rugged Man Guru (Gangstarr) Big L. They all have flows that make sense and
rhyme. If you don’t have a good vocabulary than you may not understand them because they
use 3 syllable instead of cat or hat.
