SGF’s One Day Certification Seminar for AD’s,
Golf Coaches, PE Teachers and Youth Counselors
Spirit of Golf Foundation (SGF)
The Spirit of Golf Foundation, a 501(c)(3), is a non-
profit association established for the sole purpose of
supporting middle and high school golf coaches and PE
teachers.
Their One Day Golf Certification Seminar is designed
to advance the knowledge and skills of the golf coach,
physical education teacher and youth counselor in a
professionally organized format that educates the
attendees while offering them a hands-on experience.
Seminars are conducted by SGF Director of Instruction,
Bill Madonna, PGA Master Teaching Professional.
All sports coaches (other coaches may
someday become the golf coach! – good for the resume)
and area youth counselors may attend.
How Does the SGF schedule and conduct their One Day Seminars?
An Athletic Director is usually the “coordinator” for scheduling a One Day
Seminar. On many occasions a school administrator, golf coach or PE teacher
has requested a seminar for their district. They then become the
“coordinator” for the seminar.
SGF requests the coordinator execute these 6 steps…
• Reserve a seminar date with SGF
• Enroll a minimum of 25 to no more than 60 attendees
(SGF has found that individuals, from as far as a 60 mile radius, will attend.)
• Provide a golf driving mat/rubber tee (4x6 if possible)
• Provide a driver, pitching wedge and putter
• Provide a gym and classroom with video projector/screen
• Provide a cooler for water/sports drink – Paid for by SGF
Please remember SGF will pay for lunches!
Bill Madonna is a PGA of America
Master Teaching Professional (less
than 1% of the 27,000 PGA members ever
achieve this Master designation), GOLF
Magazine “Top 100” Teacher in
America, PGA Section Teacher of
the Year award winner and a
featured speaker for both the
NIAAA and the NFHS.
”A day with Bill is every coach’s dream.”
....Danny Ninestine,
Director of Athletics, Port St. Lucie High School
“Bill Madonna wrote the book on coaching golf.”
....Trish Highland,
District Athletic Director, Lake County Schools
Past President of the FIAAA
“You will never attend a seminar with more
effectiveness and satisfaction.”
...Bob Gardner,
Executive Director
National Federation of High Schools

Coaching Golf Successfully
Over 200 pages of coaching information
“A must for golf coaches”
Coaching Golf Successfully is a standout
resource for golf coaches and instructors. It’s specifically designed to
help you build winning golf programs. You will learn how to conduct
effective practice sessions, identify technical flaws more easily, and
teach winning strategies. Included with the instruction are stories and
examples of what has worked for other coaches across the country.
Because of the highly technical nature of golf, great emphasis is put
on teaching swing technique. The book covers subjects such as
mastering contact, ball flight, and distance; focusing on the short
game; improving scoring performance; and developing a pre-shot
routine.
Author Bill Madonna, a PGA Master Professional who has conducted
more than 60,000 golf lessons, clearly understands the philosophy of
coaching and communicating with students. He is also the founder of
the Spirit of Golf Foundation (501c3 non-profit) the organization
responsible for supplying general information, teaching materials,
and certification for high school golf coaches.
If you are involved in coaching or working with young golfers in any
way, then this is the book for you. You will receive a greater
understanding of teaching the fundamentals of golf, and you will also
be able to organize better practices and manage your time and
resources more effectively. The methods are so straightforward and
practical that you will be able to apply them to your own team
immediately.
