owns three Releford Foot and Ankle Institute
offices in California. As an active member of
the health care community, Dr. Bill Releford
belongs to several professional organizations,
including the California Medical Association.
Founded in 1865 by a group of physicians, the
California Medical Association (CMA) today
represents almost 40,000 doctors in California. It
also advocates for physicians and patients to
ensure that health care plans comply with
state laws.
3. The CMA hosts events and conferences
throughout the year to allow its members to
stay current with medical advances. One such
event planned for 2014 is the CMA House of
Delegates meeting, which will take place
October 17-19 in Sacramento. Convened
annually, this meeting lets the House of
Delegates, consisting of more than 400 elected
delegates, debate public health and CMA
governance issues and take action through
pertinent resolutions. In 2013, the delegates
discussed vaccinations, health information
technology, and the Affordable Care Act,
among other matters.
