2. Invasion by Germany
May 1940- Germany invades The
Netherlands. There were increasing
amounts of Anti-semitism, or hatred
and discrimination towards Jewish
people. Jewish people were being
forced to wear stars to identify
themselves at Jewish.
4. Diary of Anne Frank
1942: At 13, Anne begins
writing her fears, hopes, and
experiences in her diary.
The family was hiding for
almost 2 years in constant
fear of being discovered.

5. 1944
On 4 August 1944, everyone in
the Secret Annex is arrested
and sent to German concentration
camps.
Anne and her sister Margot
died from typhus just months
before their concentration camp is
liberated.
Anne’s father is the only family member to
survive.
Her father published Anne’s diary which has
become very popular.
6. Why should we know Anne Frank?
She stands for the millions (estimated
6-7 million people) murdered under
the German rule. Almost the
population of all of Virginia!!
Helps us never forget so we don’t
make the same mistakes so history
doesn’t repeat itself.
