Three bridges were built across Bayou Plaquemine to connect Plaquemine to Turnerville. The first bridge in 1898 was destroyed by fire and replaced by the second bridge in 1908. The third and final bridge was completed in 1950, though part of it was later removed. Several boats are also discussed, including ferry boats and larger vessels that traveled the Mississippi River near Plaquemine in the early 20th century.

8. Carrie B. Schwing

9. The Carrie B. Schwing was the largest boat that was ever built in Plaquemine. It was one hundred and twenty five feet long and twenty one feet wide. It was launched on March 22, 1904.

10. The second Carrie B. Schwing was built after the first Carrie B. Schwing burned and sank in Bayou Natchez on February 28, 1912. It was used as a towing boat as well as a pleasure boat.

13. Charles Spedale Ferry Boat, the “Amelia”, was used to cross the Mississippi River in 1934.
